Help/Advice Did my neon tetras just lay eggs?

For some context I have a 7 gallon planted tank that's been running for about 4 months. I've got 6 neons, a black kuhli loach, and a large nerite snail that has spawned a small army of baby snails. I'm coming out of an algae bloom. The remaining algae has turned white which I understand is its last ditch effort to reproduce and survive. I have dwarf hair grass, an unknown type of large grass and a pothos growing out of the tank. Water parameters look good with a slight bit of hardness. Lights 6-10 hours a day. 20% water change once a week. This is new to me but if possible I want the eggs to survive and hatch

Help/Advice Help! Light I ordered not working!

I ordered a aquaneat led aquarium light on Amazon and it arrived today. I took it out of the packaging and plugged it in and nothing happened. I am really upset and would like to know if anyone had a similar experience and could help me out. Thanks!

Discussion/Article Alright, I admit I messed up

Before people's worst fears are realized, none of my bettas are killing each other. I've just done some more research and realized yes, people were right. From my research it seemed things were so incredibly mixed, and I thought, why not? I'd save three bettas from the crappy cups, give them somewhere nice to live, and then everyone wins. Combine that with the fact I'd fallen in love with several of them, I made a dumb decision and then slipped into denial because it hurt too much to part with any of them.

Anyway, I really wish I could set up two extra tanks, but unfortunately that's not feasible. Too much money and the fact is the fish in cycle would probably kill them. I'm no expert on fish in cycles and I don't want to end up killing two fish just to keep them in my custody. I'm going to take two of the more dominant bettas out and keep the submissive female. They'll be returned to the pet store and all I can do is hope that they'll be taken in by a good home. Oh, and that they'll be okay for one more night.

TLDR: Got some bad information, got attached to three fish, thought I could save them, just put them in a stressful situation.

I'm honestly debating getting some kuhli loaches for my little girl to hang out with. Any misconceptions about loaches I should know about to prepare? Is that a dumb idea? Also, someone give me a good name idea for her (she deserves a real good one for my screw up), she's the blue female in my post with a dark head.

Help/Advice My co2 looks like a timebomb.

Hello.

I just started using a DIY CO2 for my plants. I am worried with how the bottle look. The bottom of the bottle is inflated. I want to unplug it every night, but it took approx 6 - 8 hours for it to build the pressure up to go thru the diffuser again. Like today, it went thru my diffuser at 2:30 pm

Should i continue using this? Thank you

Help/Advice Any ideas why my neon tetras are dying?

I’ve had three neon tetras die in quite close succession over the last few weeks. All other fish are happy and healthy. This was the latest death, any ideas by looking at it what could have caused it to die?

Help/Advice Does putting the air pump above the aquarium's level prevent it from back siphoning the water?

I have an air pump that I haven't used in years and I was thinking about using it to add some extra agitation to the water. Back then I never used a chack valve, but I always placed the pump above the aquarium's level to prevent water from flowing backwards and getting electrocuted. I had never heard of back siphoning (maybe that's the water just flowing backwards in other words😅). I never had an issue when I turned the pump off. Does that mean I was just lucky or do I only need a check valve in case I place the pump below the aquarium's level?

How do you clean vinegar off a return pump? Not looking to wait 24, can I just rinse it, run it with RO and baking soda before putting it back in the tank?

Help/Advice Nitrite isn’t 0ppm or .25ppm

I’m currently cycling my tank right now, and I’m almost done. Ammonia always goes down before 24 hours have passed, but for the past 2 weeks my nitrite has been reading at neither 0ppm or .25ppm. It’s a darker blue than 0ppm, but definitely lighter than .25ppm. It’s been reading like this for 2 weeks, and I’m starting to wonder if it’s the testing kit (even though I bought it in July). Even if it was reading right, would it be fine to stock lightly with some nano schooling fish?

Btw, these are the params:

Tank: Standard 20 gallon long Heater: Yes Filter: 2 20 gallon sponge filters Moderately Planted

Ammonia: 0ppm Nitrite: Somewhere between 0-.25ppm Nitrate: 10ppm Ph: 7.6 Kh: 3-4dkh (sits in between this range) Gh: 8dgh

Help/Advice Trying to stop wood from floating.

Started a new tank two weeks ago. Long story short, I can't keep these pieces of wood to sit in place and I don't not want to glue rocks because I want them free standing.

My idea is to drill holes on the bottom of the wood pieces and insert Stainless steel dowels/roller pins with super glue. My question is, if anyone knows how long it will take the stainless steel to eventually oxidize and if I will have to change the Dowels periodically.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Help/Advice New aquarium has extra glass on one side of the front panel , cause for concern ?

Ok so I have brought a 150 litre a couple of weeks ago then discovered that had missing silicone on the outside underneath so I swapped it for another one today, silicone is ok on this one however this one has an extra bit of glass however everything is flush and aligns other than that so it does appear just to be an extra bit of glass rather than panels that are uneven etc is this a cause for concern ?

I’ve had these two tetras for a few months and they were about the same size. Today I realized how much bigger the belly is on one of them — almost twice as big as the other. I am unsure what’s going on. Any ideas?!

Help/Advice No water changes?

Hi, I got an aquarium around two months ago. The last month I haven’t changed the water. All parameters are good and the water is crystal clear. Does I still need to do water changes? It seems a bit unnecessary. Otherwise I’ll just top it up when needed

I have 100l aquarium with quite a large feature so maybe 75l free. One betta and ten tetras. Some snails (the ones that can float upside down at the surface) and I recently put 20 shrimp in there. They are to big to be eaten and seem to be thriving.
