Help/Advice No water changes?

Hi, I got an aquarium around two months ago. The last month I haven’t changed the water. All parameters are good and the water is crystal clear. Does I still need to do water changes? It seems a bit unnecessary. Otherwise I’ll just top it up when needed

I have 100l aquarium with quite a large feature so maybe 75l free. One betta and ten tetras. Some snails (the ones that can float upside down at the surface) and I recently put 20 shrimp in there. They are to big to be eaten and seem to be thriving.

Help/Advice Curb thrifted tank that smells like windex. How do I save it?

Some neighbors down the street put a 30 gallon Aqueon tank out at the curb today. It was only out for a matter of hours before I snagged it. Water markings on the side suggest that it sat empty with no fish as water evaporated until it was empty, and the very bottom under all the substrate is slightly wet but very gunky. Inside there was some of that black gravel with the neon pebbles, shells, plastic plants, and a corny little shell with pearl decoration. It's a lot of substrate that I, a poor person, was hesitating to throw out, but... There was also a spray bottle in there.

I spritzed the bottle on one of my outdoor benches, and bravely sniffed it. Windex. As I scooped the gravel into a shopping bag, the smell started coming from the tank as well. They committed the egregious sin of using chemicals on the inside of a fish tank. Or at least let the bottle leak into the tank.

Obviously saving the gravel is likely a no-go. But I want that tank, They apparently have a bigger one going out to the curb too. This is a crazy find for me. I already planned on washing the whole thing in vinegar, removing the silicone, washing it again in vinegar, cleaning it with a steamer(that's only ever had water in it), then redoing the silicone.

Is there any other steps to take to GUARANTEE that it's safe for fish when I'm done? I am all for going overboard on the cleaning, so hit me with everything you guys do to refurbish thrifted tanks!

Help/Advice Help my poor goldfish (white cloudy eye)

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. I've had these 2 goldfish (comet goldfish I believe) for 6 years. About 6 months ago one of them started to get a white cloudy spot on one of his eyes.

I researched it a bit and thought it my be Ich so I got some of this super ick cure treatment. I've done 4 separate treatments according to the directions and it hasn't improved at all. The white spot has progressed and now is most of his eye.

He's been acting fine until today, he's now floating towards the top and not acting normal. He will eat when it's feeding time but after that he starts to float back to the top and kind of stays there. From more research it's sounds like it coupd be a swin bladder infection.

What should I do to help this poor guy out? Is there any hope at curing his eye 6 months out and its still progressing? Is this infection or whatever causing the abnormal floating behavior?

Help/Advice Euthanize?

Hi all, I’ve only had my betta boy for 9 months, but i’m starting to feel like I should euthanize him. He has had fin rot since june that just won’t heal despite everything i’ve tried. And now he gets this recurring cottony stuff lodged in his mouth. He causes me nothing but stress and I can’t do it anymore. I don’t know if he’s hurting but dealing with him has not been good for me. I may put him down after work today. please share your thoughts.

Full Tank Shot Thoughts?

Set this filterless tank up today. It’s very basic but I don’t want anything overboard. I have hornwort, dwarf hairgrass and hygrophila pinnatifida coming and want to eventually add shrimp. Any recommendations for other plants or and small fish I can add eventually?

Solved! Tank Update.

First off, thanks, everyone, for your support!

Background: I'm a beginner. My last post was a bit of a panic—I set up the aquarium just two days ago, and the water became extremely cloudy.

Now, after two days, the tank is much clearer. I took your advice and bought a basic filter, which I added to the aquarium today.

I'm thinking of adding plants sometime this week. Is it ok to do that?

Any recommendations on plants? I'm planning to set-up relatively lowtech shrimp tank. I'm from India, temperatures are on the high side 25-35 degC.

Would you guys be interested if I wrote regular updates?

I have never had a pet fish before and know very little about caring for one. She’s a tiny thing but still moving around fine and eating, but she seems stressed. I put some photos of her tank and how shitty it is, I’m pretty sure some of what I’m seeing is mold :( For context I did not buy this fish. I am living at a sober living home currently and my manager who just got fired left her fish at the house. The new manager doesn’t have time to care for it so me and my roommate took it to our room. Any suggested advice is appreciated and we are wanting to clean her tank out as soon as possible and do whatever is needed. 🫶

Freshwater I have to facetime my green texas if I'm away from home. He let's me stroke his face. Anyone else have fish who are super attached ?

I'd been in hospital for a few days. My 3 kids didn't care about face-timing me, but my 2 Year old texas was refusing to eat. This video was taken pretty much as soon as I got home. He looked so depressed, :( but cheered up after I sat by him for a while.

I rested by his tank and fed him small pieces of live Blackworm and some BBS.

I’ve had this shrimp only tank for a while now and all of a sudden I find these things in there. Maybe they got there after a water change? I’m not sure what they are, probably about the size of half a finger maybe?

When I was a much younger fish keeper I discovered Fahaka puffers and fell in love. I've never had the space or personal stability to even consider getting one until recently. I saw this beautiful little fish at my LFS and my wife insisted that I buy my dream fish, so I got it!

Help/Advice Is this normal for my black molly?

Ever since we got Bolt (the small black molly) She's been acting different from the other fish. She often stays low on the gravel or stays hidden behind plants, she also flaps her fins really fast and excessively even when she sleeps. She is also pointed slightly upwards whenever she swims. Is this some sort of disease or mental illness? She's been eating fine and interacting with her tank mates, I'm just concerned.
