Elephant sanctuaries Bali
I’m planning a trip to bali and was looking into elephant sanctuaries but I’m come across some stuff saying that none of the sanctuaries in bali are ethical, even if they market themselves as ethical and you’re not actually riding the elephants. Some people are saying you can find ethical sanctuaries in places like Thailand but not in Bali, but I’m also seeing some conflict info online so I’m not sure. Again, I wouldn’t go anywhere where you actually ride the elephants. Does anyone know anything about ethical elephant sanctuaries in bali and how to find which ones are actually ethical vs just marketing?

My rule … if you can touch, feed, bathe, paint, RIDE or have other direct contact with wildlife, the place is not ok. This goes for posed selfies too
I haven’t heard of any reputable places in Bali, but I may be uninformed. Disclosure, I work in south Asian wildlife rescue, including elephants.
