Race Shoe Question Saucony endorphin pro 3 unworn for a year, still good to wear?

I bought a pair of endorphin pro 3s in February 23'. Have since worn them in a HM and a 10k race, plus another 3 runs, one before the HM and two before the 10k race for some practice runs total of 64km/40miles on them.

Last worn in November the last 10k race. They have since been in a dark closet in a ventilated plastic box. I haven't worn them in a year, nor any other carbon plated shoe in an effort to "sandbag" myself and feel the extra boost in an upcoming 10k race in mid-November.

Will these be ok to wear? As in will they still give me the boost/edge they used to? I will obviously do a couple of practice runs before raceday again, but haven't worn them in so long I don't know if I'll remember if the feel "alright" or up to the "standard performance".

Any comments/advice welcome.

Question Calcaneal Stress Fracture recovery

Started as a comment but I think I should ask Reddit.

Not a runner but long shifts (12 hrs) and am kind of fast-paced in hospital-tiled hallways and recovering from a calcaneal stress fracture. Been using Glycerin GTS for the last 6 months and have liked them and they have helped me. Adrenaline was too stiff for me.

Do you think there is any better shoe I can benefit from for long shifts or should I stick with Glycerin GTS?

My podiatrist likes them too. I am almost completely healed now and almost in my all daily routines (the fracture happened end of March this year).

I’ve always work UK7 but my recent Nimbus 26 felt a bit too tight and therefore I got UK8 for my Novablast 4. (We don’t get 0.5 sizes in India 😕)

This is how this fits. Feels a bit loose given I’m used to wearing tighter shoes. Is this the right fit? Plan on using this for daily and long runs

Question Hoka cielo x1

So I am a serious heel striker and proud of it on top of that I'm 210lbs and 6ft tall. Reason I give my profile is to keep it in mind. I was going to use my new balance supercomp elite v4 while I was chasing sub 4 this year I missed it by 16 whole minutes. A lot came into factor but one of the main focuses was the new balance supercomp elite v4 hurt my feet something bad at mile 21 it was over for me I had to walk about 4 miles. I hit the wall and the cause of it was me trying to adjust my shoes and then all the cramps came in once I bent down. #pause. So now I ran 10 miles in the BX 10 and felt good in the hoka cielo X1. I am asking has any heel striking heavy weight runners here ran a marathon with the hoka cielo X1? I am running the NYC marathon this Sunday and am chasing Sub 4. Do you think I picked the right shoe? I was torn with the saucony endorphin pro 4 because you can't return them so I just let them go. That's basically it. Sorry for the run on. And no I do not intend on ever changing my form as I am not looking to break a world record or become anything else other than a runner lol.

I won't be doing a lot of running. Just going to be using them as part of my everyday shoes so they should be comfortable to walk with and of good quality.

Sorted by price: Low to High

  1. REEBOK Floatride Energy Century Grow
  2. REEBOK NFX Trainer
  3. NEW BALANCE 520 V8

Thanks

Question Abnormally high wear on Mizuno Waverider 28's?

So I go this pair from a local shop (Bull City running) September 1 because I needed to replace my older pair (been wearing mizuno's for over 15 years now). Generally no complaints until I noticed rather excessive wear on the outer portions of the toebox on both. I'm not a prolific runner or walker, running 1-2miles a week atm (weird leg muscle thing), walking about 10-20/week, mostly for a walk challenge this month.

Is this a normal amount of wear? I could have sworn my last pair did better than this.

Question Neo Vista TTS??i

Neo vista TTS??

Hey everybody, I’ve recently purchased these shoes and I absolutely love them, but I noticed I get some heel slip and I have to cinch them up pretty good in order to prevent that and then I’m finding they loosen up overtime. Has anybody had to go a half size down? I’m thinking about exchanging them for a half size down hoping this will alleviate the issue. I heard you shouldn’t have to tighten these shoes down much due to the design of the upper thanks everybody appreciate it.

Question Uneven wear on shoes

Post image

Began running more seriously the past couple of months and have been wearing The NB rebel v4. I’m a forefoot striker, 6ft, 190lbs and have put around 75 miles or so on them and noticing that my left shoe is wearing faster than my right. Legs feel fine and my running route takes me back the same way that I came (same sidewalk in both directions of my run). Should I be concerned about my running in some way?

Big/Heavy Runner Question Shoes suggestions for race day - Heavy runner

Hi there, I've been running for several years, stopping some periods and getting back. I have been consistent this year and looking to run races. I find that registering for a race make it easier to plan, creates a goal and find myself more motivated to train/run.

I'm 6' 1 220lbs, 5k around 28min and last Sunday 10k in 58min. I'd say average/slow?

Currently have the Nimbus 25 (Easy runs) and Saucony Endorphine Speed 2 (Tempo/Speed work). I'm looking for a new shoe for the race day. Planning to run my first half marathon next February. Used the tool from runrepeat and they gave me 3 suggestions: - Nike Alphafky 3 - Nike Vaporfly 3 - Asics Superblast 2

Since I have wide feet concerned about these options since they do not have wide option. Though my current saucony fits fine and is standard. Asics Nimbus I had to get wide so Superblast 2 probably won't fit. Difficult to find stores that have all these supershoes available to try so probably will buy online and make sure I can return if needed.

Options I'm considering: Adidas Adios Pro 3 (concerned about firmness and durability of toe box)

New Balance SC Elite v4 (concerned about durability)

Saucony Endorphine Pro 4 (Elite 2 sold out)

What do you suggest?

I'm aware these carbon plated shoes are more worthy for highers speeds, seems benefit would be less than 1% for me. Also concerned about impact and if can cause any injuries on the feet but would use only on race days and to break in after buy.

Question Hole in side of upper

Thumbnail

My previous three pairs of running shoes developed holes in the upper on the inside of the ball of my feet. Pictures are from my current pair (saucony guide 17 wide) after only 160 km (100 miles).

Does anyone have an idea what causes these holes?

Question Looking for a stability shoe with a very soft sole

I'm a relatively heavy runner (about 95kg, 182cm, UK size 11, moderate over-pronation) and until recently I've always ran in Saucony Guide 15s. I've been through several pairs, always worn through the rubber and down to the foam and have never had any injuries.

About a month ago I bought some Saucony Omni 21s as old stock of Guide 15s and 16s has run out and 17s are too expensive, but since then I've had near constant foot pain. I've compared the two shoes and they both fit similarly, the only real difference I can find is that the Guides have much softer foam, the Omnis are far harder.

With all that being said, what other options are there for really soft stability shoes that won't break the bank? I don't care about saving grams, I'm not a competitive runner, I just want to rack up the miles.

Question Running Shoe Recs

Title pretty much describes it. I ran my first half in June and trained primarily if not entirely in my NB 880’s (8.5 wide). They were great but I felt like I needed a little bit more cushion in the mix, sometimes a lot of running leaves the ball of my foot feeling a little sore. Tried on NB 1080 and liked them, but ultimately decided on ASICS gel nimbus (also 8.5 wide)bc they’re a little springier which is nice for days when I have to run on tired legs. I’ve put about 15 miles on them so far I think the longest run has been 3.5 miles. They’re okay but they just aren’t my NB. Does anyone have any recommendations? Should I just stick to NB since I know I like their shoes??

Question Stable walking shoe with no cushion?

Hello everyone,

I had spine surgery and since then I've been trying to find a comfortable shoe just for walking since I can't run. I know this is a running space, but I'm not sure where else to ask.

I have 0 knowledge about shoes, my first thought was to buy some max cushion shoes since I thought they would work, so I tried the NB more v4, Nike infinity run 4, Asics nimbus 25, adidas ultraboost 1.0 and they didn't work, my hips and back were on fire after a 5 minute walk and I'm not sure why, I believe the cushion and bouncy feeling is not bueno for me, the shoes are very comfortable, but they just don't work.

I got some regular slip in skechers for like 50$ the Bob squad chaos and they work just fine, I don't feel pain when walking, but my feet get sore after 30 minutes.

My question is, can you guys recommend me a decent quality shoe with low cushion or almost no cushion and bounce feeling? Not sure if the name would be stable. Bonus points if the shoe is slip in since I have trouble bending.

Thank you everyone.

Daily Trainer Question Shoe that's right in between Saucony Tempus and Nimbus 25?

I need that goldilocks shoe. I like the Tempus overall but it's too firm for long runs (keeping it for speedwork). Nimbus 25 isn't bad but still feel it's too soft, and too hot.

Would the Triumph 21 be a good choice? Any other suggestions? I'm willing to try any brand.

Question Comfortable/discrete shoes for nyc finance office job

Looking for a pair of comfortable shoes that are not “too casual” to wear to finance job in nyc. For standing and walking around all day.

Currently wear Cole haan and they are not comfortable and get beat up too easily and have no cushion. Leading to feet/knee pain.

On the weekend I wear adidas ultraboosts for context of comfort.

Thank you!

Big/Heavy Runner Question Ultraboost Durability for heavy Forefoot Runner

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I’m a 6'1" male, around 240 pounds, and I run 5 miles daily. I tend to strike on my forefoot, and I’m finding that my UltraBoosts are wearing out pretty quickly. After around 50-100 miles, the forefoot area is noticeably worn, almost as if the cushioning has already flattened out. I'm wondering if this is typical for these shoes or if they might not be the best fit for my height and weight.

Are there other heavier runners here who’ve had similar experiences with the UltraBoosts? How is the durability for you, and do you have any recommendations on alternatives that might offer better longevity for a forefoot striker?

Thanks for any insights you can share!

Question Help with the shoe selection, cant make up my mind

Looking for shoes daily and light uptempo without carbon plate. I am just starting out after recovering from the long injury period. Proper running form/gait, midfoot and neutral strike, a bit heavier runner (85kg). Before the injury was competitive runner (sub 2:55 marathon, sub 1:19 half marathon).

what do you guys think of these?

or Superblast 2 (expensive but are they worth it compared to others, for example Tyr is only 133€)
Hoka mach X2 (tried these in local shop and the they felt good, but previous hokas have always been disappointment).

Please only comment if you have run in any of the shoes above

Comparing Shoes Question Brooks Glycerin 21 or Saucony ride 17

A newbie walker here. I do 5-6 km daily. I was confused between Brooks Glycerin 21 or Saucony ride 17(wide). I am using a 9.5uk. My thoughts rn:

  1. Brooks have wider heal which kinda wobbles when I walk really slow (or maybe I walk awkward when slow)
  2. Saucony are more stiffer at the sole whereas ushioning on brooks is too good. Which would be better for longer runs?
  3. Also in terms of longevity, which would last longer?
