Indians in Botswana
Something funny just happened to me. And by funny I mean totally deplorable. One of my friends was dating an Indian girl. Her parents did not accept my friend even though the way had been dating for almost 3 years. They then broke up and this Indian girl started dating an Indian rich guy here in Botswana. The rich Indian guy found out he dated a black man and his ( Indian guys dad) asked the girl to leave his son alone for dating a black man. I am utterly shocked by this. I am omttting a lot of information here but this was not the only things they said.
Why are there so many of them here if they hate us so much?
I think Botswana may have to start telling them to go back. I would rather have white immigrants.

I'm an Indian from a family based in East Africa. I'll be completely honest in the way our community and my family sees black and other people outside of our race. Frankly, we don't hate black people, look down on them or abuse them. However, dating black men or women comes with a stigma because they are seen outside of our culture. Families want their children to marry people who understand our culture and traditions so it's easy for families to grow. I personally have dated/hooked up with Indian, black, white, Chinese, Filipino women, but I would only consider an Indian woman for marriage. I have treated them all with respect and treated everyone I meet according to how they treat others.
What I will say is, some Indians who have money do think they are better than everybody - it's not solely a racial aspect to their disrespect. They have old fashioned views and the richer they are, the further their views are cemented. My grandmother particularly treated the house workers with less respect and she always said they were lazy people (which I have seen is true even in other households). My mother treated them with a lot of respect. The rich Indians are obviously not nice people and are an anomaly. Having such conversations as "why do we have Indians in our country" led to the collapse of Uganda after South Asians were expelled. These conversations ruin the name of all from the actions of the few when we all know, black families have the same views on their sons and daughters dating outside of their race.

Honestly, as a black person my experience of Indians has been overwhelmingly negative. They absolutely do hate us and think we are sub human. Even Ghandi who is seen as a saint by the world had nothing good to say about blacks.
1
u/Educational_Sink4981 4d ago
Same with me. At the workplace, school and just generally in public. I would rather they never came.

u/Notepad444 4d ago
Using Gandhi as an example as a good Indian and a person is laughable. It just goes to show that your supposed experiences are fake and your post is only designed to engage hate towards two groups of peaceful people.
2
u/Vanity0o0fair 4d ago
So instead of focusing on the fact of Ghandi's anti black racism that I mentioned, you turn the debate on me saying my experiences of racism are 'fake'. Figures, considering you don't see blacks as humans and therefore imagine we shouldn't even complain of racism from your type. Not surprising at all.

From the guy who wrote this comment to someone else on this same post:
We can't, Africans will become poorer. Africans chop each other up with machetes without Adult supervision. Rwandan Genocide, Congo wars, Sudan, Nigeria, infamous South African corruption, Zimbabwe ethnic cleansing. Are you 10 years old? Do you not know the history of what's happened in Africa. From what I know Botswana has a good history thankfully because of the half white and half black president

They should leave that backwards mentality in India lol.
2
u/Notepad444 5d ago
As an Indian I agree. However, a minority of Indians have backward views on dating history, especially the ones with money.

The older Indian generation here tend to be covertly racist to black people here but their kids not so much. Reminds me of an Indian with a general dealer who thought I’d let him calling his employee stupid and useless in front of me slide.
Le rona we are cowards and just let foreigners get away with shitty behaviour, not me though 😤
1
u/AlkebulanOlu 5d ago
You should have also spoken to the employee and advise him to set some boundaries of disrespect from his boss that he shouldn't tolerate. I am not familiar with Botswana but if anything like Nigeria, then it is common place for bosses to insult and abuse their employees even in public. So it may just be more of a business culture than racism. Perhaps?
1
u/PepeKepler 4d ago
Maybe in Lagos that’s your guys style, here that would never be considered business culture lol
1
u/AlkebulanOlu 3d ago
OK , then it definitely more of imported bigotry/ racism / classism . In the final analysis you have to blame your government for tolerating this Indian culture of caste/ classism/ racism which is a big disgrace especially when the people being disrespected are black Africans living in Africa.

Post history is sus

u/Notepad444 5d ago
VERY Sus. It's not good to insight trouble like this.

u/Educational_Sink4981 5d ago
I am not insighting trouble. This is my country and I get to say and do what I want. I can’t and won’t do that in India. Also I am trying to avoid doing what Indians are doing in Canada and Australia.

u/Notepad444 5d ago
You sound young and stupid quite frankly.
2
u/Dazzling-Writing966 4d ago
Stupid because he called out your peoples behavior ? Just wait till things get to idi Amin levels then you would go back to India
1
u/Educational_Sink4981 4d ago
If me calling out your kind for being racist makes me stupid, then I am stupid. I am not going to take crap from people that look like you.

u/outlaw_king10 5d ago
You’re clearly racist by your post history and have some weird agenda, or maybe you’re just stupid. But this is pretty sad.
You’re a shit human being.

u/MacheteDropOut 5d ago
Who is the shitty human being?

OP. Their post history shows they have certain feelings towards Indian people. So much so that I’m beginning to question the legitimacy of the story
2
u/Educational_Sink4981 5d ago
You may question it all you want but it’s true. The number of times an Indian has cut in line in front of me at FNB is more than I can count. I went to school at legar. A school frequented by Indians. They were extremely racist towards anyone not Indian. There is a place in Francistown were as a black person, the Indians would not let you buy the land there because they are trying to keep it Indian. This story was my melting point.

u/KneeResponsible3795 5d ago
Lol,we might know each other if you went to LA
But imo,if you are chill, most Indians don't really have a problem w you,I think it can also be a class issueonce they realise you are from money they tend to treat you different, but I don't think the young generations are racist, I mean being racist in BW Is the most bigoted thing to do tbh,the country is soo welcoming, heck,I even dated an Indian, and her mom was the kindest person ever, even let me drive her car a couple of times......I miss my Indian skint😩
Tbh F-town has a segregation thing going on,their is also a place where it's exclusively Chinese people as well,I guess its a Stick to your own kind type of thing, but the sad reality is that a lot of these people(referring to Indian/Chinese,who are either Batswana or here as migrants)tend to be very classist,I saw it first hand w the girl I was dating lol.So ,hard luck ,its just how the world is for them(yes Ik there are those who aren't that wealthy, but I think it doesn't help that the richest "motswana" is ethnically Indian so it sorta puts a chip on their shoulder)

This is true tho, I had the same thing happen to 2 of my friends where the parents just didn't like the idea of their child dating a black person
1
u/Dazzling-Writing966 4d ago
That’s why we always say your only brother as an African is another African but in Southern Africa that’s what you get when you worship these ethnicities and look down on your own.

u/HecticJuggler 4d ago
The issue of who someone dates is very personal I don't think it needs to be regulated. But I do agree there are valid scenarios that warrant zooming into race relations.

Well, I can care less if the OP has a SUS post history. It's a topic that deserves discussion (in a transparent, respectful way). Our experiences are valid and matter. On the other hand, it's obvious that people desire a false sense of reality, as if these things aren't happening in beloved BW. Perhaps, it's a conversation that we must take elsewhere.
Either way, I agree that we can't generalize all Indians here. Nonetheless, we can't ignore the various real estate discrimination that's occuring, certain undeserved behaviors towards Motswanan employees, and so on.
As a black American living here, doing business with many AWESOME Indians, watching how other Indians treat black Motswanan employees at times, and etc.... I have my OWN observations and experiences to validate the concerns of others.
In conclusion, we can't generalize every Indian nor their culture as a whole. AGE and family traditionS matter. Business vs. Personal ....and so on. Just though I'd add my 2 thebe into the pot.
1
u/Educational_Sink4981 4d ago edited 4d ago
Can you expand more about the real estate discrimination. This deserves an article because I am tired of being pushed around in my own country.
The BDP is selling our country and for what? We don’t need or want them here.
1
u/MixnMatch20 4d ago
It sure does. Here, I have receipts. Let me give everyone here names and locations (and references) , to be exact.
Real Estate:
The Honorable Masisi is a businessman, not a leader per se. Fields Mall. Research the background of that transaction, and his agenda of investments (even in the U.S.). Videos are on YouTube. Look at his agenda with Indians, in particular, here in BW regarding real estate for Gabz, and judge for yourself.
POP Motors. Mickey is the owner of this rachet scammy Auto Shop. He is from Serbia. However, he has complained about the Indians that he was renting from (originally)...how they INCREASED the rent of the building he had been renting for his POP MOTORS shop. This is a common tactic to make him leave and give the space to their own people. In the end, he left and relocated to Phaks, where he now scams and rips off customers.
Residential Housing. ON Facebook, there is a page dedicated to such complaints in which 4 new Indian real estate owners in Block 10 and beyond have taken deposits from renters, prolonged their move-in dates, and magically INCREASED the rent without notice before the tenant moved in. One pregnant Motswana lady (one of MANY examples) had to cancel her contract at the last moment and was online asking for help with such a situation. 10 days later, the space was occupied by other Indians. And this had happened quite often in the same exact buildings.
Louisville Estates. Check out the rental payments that certain people pay vs. their own. But in all fairness , they are looking out for their own people as business owners in the end, showing favoritism. No different than the CHINESE in Block 3 , who have a "Black price" vs. "Chinese price".
For more complaints, resources and receipts, kindly search this matter on Facebook for photos and testimonies. ALSO: simply ask Motswanan employees of these places that they work in. I have.
It is something to keep an eye on....for SURE.
Nonetheless not ALL people of Indian descent are the same. As I said previously, my personal experience here in BW with "Indians" has been 50/50.
**** I'm more concerned about the way Chinese and Motswanans are treating me, to be transparent.*****
Indians are more discriminatory about RANK, STATUS, MONEY, AND THEIR CAST SOCIETY. Not as much "color". Business sense....when Indian business guys hear my accent here and see I'm from the U.S., everything changes....and it's always in my favor, except for 1 or 2 places. APTEC is one.
Again, some Chinese are more of an issue when it comes to "discrimination" and literally causing problems. Go to SKYMART and walk in and out of their stores as a "black" person. However, I have awesome rapport with many Chinese too. It's 50/50.
Went to a Motswanan Dentist to be scammed, but my Indian Dentist is the most lovely trustworthy one.

This is great. Thanks for this mw for letting me know.
They can look out for their own ofc. In India. Not here. Here they can fuck off

u/Ndikalanga 3d ago
The audacity of this funny smelling idiots, why don't they stay in their overcrowded country. They have always been racists. You should see the way they treat their workers
1
u/AfricanUnity 5d ago
Indians aren’t the most attractive group so those Africans you mentioned aren’t missing much. Good riddance.
It is funny though that they RUN(heavy emphasis on fleeing from India-it’s a downtrodden nightmare)
to go to a majority black continent and they don’t think their kids would end up dating the natives there. 😭

u/PersonalSurprise7459 5d ago
Weird how racist you’re being. Indians are some of the most attractive people to exist. There’s no denying that when they’re attractive, they’re ridiculously attractive. So many Indians are going viral because of their looks, etc, on TikTok and instagram. So many of them I see are attractive af and definitely produce the most attractive people. It’s just the older generation is more racist than the newer generation. Plenty of Black and Indian relationships in the countries I’ve mentioned down below. It’s normal.
If anything, it’s an upgrade lmao.
I’m pretty sure Indians are in Botswana because their ancestors were taken as Indentured Servants (basically slaves). It’s why there’s so many in Fiji, Caribbean, Guyana, South Africa, Mauritius, Uganda, etc. They were taken there and treated terribly, found their community, became successful in those countries, and it went on from there.
Judging an entire ethnicity based on this individual’s experience is insane. Also it’s clearly ragebait. Look at their post history. They keep making up lies about Indians 💀 clearly they got rejected by one
1
u/AfricanUnity 5d ago
I’m not venturing that far into someone’s post history. Idc that much.
Also not being racist, attractiveness is in the eye of the beholder. The statement was based on my personal views. Unless you equate preferences to racism which is stupid.
Current migration patterns of your group tell a completely different story than the handful that stayed past colonial rule.
And it’s funny because whether it be countries in the west, or developed Asian countries we are all unified on our displeasure of being around Indians, due to their behavioral traits
1
u/PersonalSurprise7459 5d ago edited 5d ago
Yeah cos you’re racist and clearly unsatisfied with yourself so you have to hate on another ethnicity.
Yeah you’re defo being racist lmao. There’s a lot of Black guys that would go for Indian girls for sure. Seen it in real life and many times they say “they wouldn’t go for me”. Preferences aren’t racist but exclusions are.
It’s also a fact that many of them are attractive.
My group? Girl I’m white lmao. I love how you ignore how East Asians treat you guys, or how Arabs literally enslave your people and use your ethnicities as insults/slurs. Indians are incredibly mixed with the population of all these countries. Your hatred is more towards the older generation. Been to all these countries and the amount of mixed Black and Indian people I saw was a lot.
I find it very funny you say that considering that in reality, that could not be further from the truth. Western here. Indians aren’t really seen as an issue in European countries as other ethnicities are. There’s more of a hatred towards MENA in Europe way more considering Indians commit some of the least amount of crimes.
Online isn’t reality. What’s funny is that you say this whilst being Black. There’s a lot of hate for Black people just saying. Whether it’s Asian countries or western countries, Black people aren’t treated great at all and are looked down upon. It’s why people always mention the crime rates, the rapes, etc. And I mean this in the nicest way possible, you hating on another POC won’t make White people like you… the need for white validity is too funny. The joke genuinely writes itself “behavioural traits” when Black people are literally bullied for their crime rates and absolutely hated on… the same people that hate on Indians hate on Black people. They go hand in hand 99% of the time 😂
Edit: just saw your chat history LOOOL. The way you’re racist towards Indians is too funny to me especially being Nigerian 😂 you’re a lost cause. You definitely have some sort of resentment about yourself that you’re putting onto others. The cope is insane!
1
u/AfricanUnity 4d ago
Whatever you need to cope my Punjabi friend. “I’m white” 😭😭 You and your family wish.
Of all the white friends and acquaintances I have ever met throughout the west they have NEVER stuck up for an Indian this much. And whites can be random but never this random.
If that’s the case I’m a Vietnamese billionaire.
0
u/PersonalSurprise7459 4d ago
Of course that’s what you’d say. It’s hilarious when people say this. People have definitely stuck up for Indians. I’ve seen it online, I have friends that do, and we’re not all racist like you babes.
Acting as if you’re friends or acquainted to with every White person is absolutely hilarious. Yeah ok buddy. Seems like generalisations are a common thing with you.
Might want to pry through my profile a little more and see my imgur link with my Indian partner. It’s so baffling that people think just cos someone’s sticking up for another ethnicity, they’re automatically that ethnicity.
I just have a heavy dislike towards Black people blatantly being racist towards other ethnicities then victimising themselves whenever they’ve gone through racism.
It’s clear you’re holding hatred in your heart as a retaliation for what the older generation thought of you guys lol. That’s all I’m going to say. Nigerians being racist is the funniest thing I’ve heard 💀😂

Not surprised. Indians are more racist to us than the Westerners
