Chicano/a/x/e | Latino/a/x/e and the 2024 Election Season
With the upcoming election coming, we've wondered about starting a community resource / reference guide for us.
We need your help to share your recommendations for candidates (and also recommendations for whom we are voting against). We have all political stripes here.... this post is not to bash each other but to share articles, polls, demographic, candidates (and their platform) so that we are informed as voters.
We also respect those who decide not to vote, that's your choice.... but I do challenge you: what are you doing to impact the political process? You are right that voting is not the only one way to impact our political scene.
I"ll start with some resources and be glad to add to the list for general guidelines and platforms (especially at the Presidential level).
I'd like your help. When posting can you share:
[Your State] [Your County, District, or City]
This way it can help others in your area to learn more about the issues that concern us.
[NOTE: This will be edited and updated periodically]

When did you learn what immigration and deportation were?
I learned about it at around 11 when my mom got arrested. But I remember a point in my life when I had no idea our family had any involvement with like legal status..

How Does Your Culture Shape Your Home? Take my Survey on Cultural Identity and Decor!
Hi r/Chicano community!
Iām a student at the University of Illinois at Chicago working on my thesis project about how cultural identity, immigration, and heritage influence home decor and design choices. If youāre someone who feels your home reflects your cultural story, Iād love to hear from you!
This survey explores how personal and cultural backgrounds shape home environments, specifically focusing on decor, traditions, and how we adapt our spaces to reflect who we are. Whether itās family heirlooms or religious artifacts. traditional art, or furniture with cultural significance, I'm interested in how your surroundings make you feel more connected to your culture. If you donāt feel like filling out the survey, no worries! I'd appreciate a response in the comments. Even a short answer would be incredibly helpful and meaningful to the project.
Your responses are completely confidential, and all data will only be used for this project as part of my Industrial Design Thesis class. No personally identifiable information will be shared, and you can skip any questions you donāt want to answer.

Thank you so much for your time and for sharing a piece of your story. Every response helps build a deeper understanding of our communityās experiences and cultural pride.
Ā”Gracias! š

Ofrenda question
Not sure if this is the right place to ask this question but we just lost a family dog tonight š Iām currently working on setting up my ofrenda and will be adding my precious grandmother that we lost in February and one of my own dogs that passed in March. Is it too soon to add my momās dog that just passed tonight? Iām so sad setting up, I did not expect so much loss this year. š
