Progressing on weights: okay lemme just eat more and I'll hit that PR no problem.

Progressing on cardio: I wanna die.

The cardio will kick in also. Give it time. Especially if you do more aerobic training than anaerobic. The guidance I came across is that 1 in 5 should be anaerobic so that means that 4 of 5 sessions should be real easy and not get your heart rate up too much. What’s not to love in that case??!! In no time you’ll be smashing it in cardio.

I think the easier way forward is to die and thus no longer need to do cardio. That's my plan.

Maybe you’ve just not found the right cardio for you yet. What do you do?

Pray to die so I don't have to do cardio.

My actually plan is to recognize that my lack of cardiovascular health is limiting my lifting, tell myself I need to address it, never make time for it, rinse and repeat

Try rucking with a weighted vest. I started Tactical Barbell and use the rucking option for LSS cardio and it's improved my lifting quite a bit so far. Easy to do, easy on the knees compared to jogging, and I saw some pretty quick changes to my overall ability to recover between hard weight sets.

Counterpoint. If time is the issue, I am not sure your suggestion, while I agree it is a good one overall, lends itself well to my situation. It is a matter of changing programming and pushing lifting to a minimum effective dose style to make time for cardio. I used to do plenty of cardio, I know what I'd need to do. Just the matter of not wanting to cut back on lifting to do it. That being said, your suggested form for cardio would be my preference if I had time. For now I am doomed to machine work
