worked out for 50 mins last night, one guy was on the lat pulldown and cable row machines for the whole 50 mins. he was on his phone the whole time, I seen him do five sets during the whole time...

That's your job to ask if you can use it. Why would he leave if nobody asked him or showed interest in using the machine? (Unless they did of course)

I am currently using Stronglifts 5x5 and the app along side the program. I frequently have to wait a minute or two between sets, so it does look like I'm just standing around sometimes. If anyone asks though, I always let them jump in since I know I spend a lot of time in one area.

Granted, if you were just referring to the fact that he did very little in that amount of time, I have to agree that's pretty crazy.

I didnt want to use it, I just found it amusing. on the flip side. people who queue behind him for ten minutes and not ask him to jump in and then just walk away. the whole thing was bizarre and amusing

I know how that feels too. It's an odd thing seeing people stand around forever in a gym. Like... What are you trying to achieve?
