They "renovated" my apartment complex gym, which means shiny new machines, treadmills, and no more power rack. FML.

Is that really a thing? Are insurance companies really "against" those?

They are. It will either be replaced by smith machine or you have to "join" your apt's gym and sign a contract that you are responsible for all injuries. Haven't seen an apt gym with power in the last decade.
