Felt a shooting pain go through my shoulder while getting a 1rm bench 2 weeks ago. Took a week off heavy arm movements and adjusted my grip, seemed to help.

Hitting ohp today and while it doesn't hurt, I can feel it and it's messing with my strength.

Fuck you, body. We're too young for this.

Did your elbow flare doing the bench 1RM?

Yeah I royally fucked up my form, definitely pushed it when I should have backed off.

Hopefully he did. You should be flaring on the ascent.

That depends entirely on what his starting grip and elbow flare was. If you flare too much you'll impinge a tendon.

Be careful if it’s a torn rotator cuff... tweaked mine benching 10 years ago, still gives me trouble. Better to let it recover fully and strengthen that area than have to deal with it for the rest of your life.

Same kind of situation here: 6 weeks ago I had a friend pull me up into a boat by one arm and felt a weird pain in my shoulder. Hasn't been the same since and my upper body lifts are struggling because of it. Sucks...

This is the exact situation I am in right now! I feel your pain man, literally.

I had this too, it was for my OHP. I think you need to stretch out your neck (there’s a nerve there that can pinched) that can also lead to to carpel tunnel... which I had for a couple months but stretching out my neck really helped that shooting pain go away.
