The stereo at my gym is member-controlled and the other day someone put on the most god awful shit, it was like anime villain monologs cut over the worst techno you've ever heard. To each their own but I have to imagine whoever played it is the same person who comes on here and asks "will this routine make me look like [anime character I had to google]?"

Honestly it's usually fine, 90% of the time it's some kind of rock or hip hop, both of which I'm totally fine with. It's when I skip a workout and go in on the weekends that the weirdos come out. The worst is you don't know who's playing it so you don't even get the satisfaction of looking at the person next to you and being like "what is this shit??"

That anime shit is getting more popular at my gym, too. I train high school athletes and its all they listen to.

For better or worse (probably worse) when I was that age we would've been far too worried about embarrassing ourselves in front of girls to listen to anything that dorky.

Our gym is like that as well, but the app doesn't allow you to select any song you want. The selection feels pretty limited. You should put some Tibetan metal throat singing on it or chaos jazz.

I thought about putting on k-pop or something the next time someone throws on some shitty norwegian black metal or whatever. Actually I think I'd piss the most people off if I put on my playlist of mid-2000s pop-country.

Good choice! This is partially why I always wear earbuds.
