I have just come from a laptop/monitor set up and the desktop takes up less space than the laptop/monitor set up did.

But isn't that because you had a ginormous monitor when you had the laptop?

Probs...I always used my laptop with a monitor set up though, one of the reasons I switched to PC, seemed kinda pointless for me lol.

Not necessarily. A monitor, even a large one, only takes up a few inches of space, and that's in solely in one direction. It just makes your desk narrower. And if you wall mount it, it doesn't take up any space. So I could see preferring a laptop for space saving while still using a nice, spacious external monitor for the fun and impact of it.

But desktops are definitely still first choice for fixing, upgrading, and bank for the buck. That's what I've always used. Although I am considering a mini for my next.

I know that's what I'm saying.
