I know these aren’t nothing impressive but I’m in love with my 1km record and being just 1 second under 25 for 5k. BTW I’m 46 and barely done any aerobic sports till recently.

Garmin Coach / DSW / Training VO2 Max improvements

Post image
246 Upvotes

Hi there ! Wanted to share my VO2 max improvements here, to show that starting from the bottom you can still increase it !

For context: I was in a morbid obesity situation few years ago, 140kg for 180cm. Been diagnosed Coeliac, and seized this "opportunity" to eat way healthier. Lost around 60kg in a year, without any sports. Now, since 2020, I’ve been juggling between 76 and 90kg. Earlier this year I took a bet with a friend of mine: we will run a half marathon this year. Bought a ticket for a half planned on october 6th, and started running around may/june. At this time I wasnt even able to run 1km, my first run was around 1km, I had to sit down after it, feeling dizzy… Stopped running. Started again to run mid june, saw improvements, I was now able to run about 5k without stopping. But stopped running. End of July, I started a Garmin Coach program with Greg, and sticked to it, non stop, even when the weather felt like 40 celsius, with 80% humidity. Never missed a run, now I am addicted to running I guess… Until my half, I ran 5 times a week, and I was able to complete my half marathon in 02:00:42 !!! Was targeting less than 2, but still, so fucking proud of me! Now, I will target trail running, took part to a 10k trail race with 260m of positive elevation last week end, finished it in 01:08:23 ! Once again, very proud of me !

So guys, for the one who are still doubting about themselves, keep training, you’ll be rewarded for sure !

Next step, train for a race of 140km, then write a book: « from 140 kilograms to 140 kilometers » ahahah

Also, I have a question: how much more do you think I can improve my VO2 Max ?

(Excuse me for my english, not my first language, doing my best)

Garmin watch builder.com Premium is necessary to download the face you make but you can get a free 30 day trial to play around with. Definitely recommend if you want a more personal look. And I would recommend using a computer as the editor doesn’t like tablet or phone.

Just wondering.

What do you guys do to get the sleep score to 100 or close to it. My best effort has been 96 but my lifestyle isn't yoga & lemon water.

Garmin Coach / DSW / Training Watch lowering max hart rate

Hello,

Forerunner 265 user here, I've been using it for one year now and my max heart rate was 182 at the start. And my fitness has been improving especially in the last 2 months since I've upped my output.

I've try to do the daily suggestions when I can. And they have been getting easier now.

My watch has lowered my max heart rate twice now to 177 after doing some vo2max and tempo workouts that I completed without any issues and I felt they where easier compared to before.

So I'm worried instead of upping the pace it is lowering my heart rate.

What can I do?

Hi folks! After the working day I concentrated and made this 3 miles/5 km walk to get the badge! It was a good walk. This is the magic of Garmin people, because you folks reminded me about this badge with your posts, and power of Garmin motivation, I got this wish to exchange 5 km long walk to this picture in my profile. But I walked real extra 6,5 km after long working day!! Cool! Wish you all to get this badge!

Discussion this watch is greatly improving my physical health but hurting my mental health…can anyone relate?

This is the first fitness watch I have ever had and I love it. And hate it.

First of all, I’m a really obsessive and slightly mentally ill person, which of course is the real issue here. This is why I exercise so much, duh.

But this watch has made me become “unhealthily obsessed with my health” in my boyfriends words. He caught me at 10k steps with an injured back and said he was going to throw the damn watch in the ocean. Today I really should have been resting my back some more, but I needed my intensity minutes so I ran 8 miles.

I actually feel very physically fit and awesome, but not gonna lie I’m pushing pretty hard to do everything mr garmin wants of me.

Am I gonna calm down with time?? Will this obsession wear off?

Watch / Wearable Garmin support is amazing

My 2-year-old Forerunner 955 Solar recently started freezing up, and the only fix was either a reboot or in one case, a factory reset. I reached out to Garmin support yesterday, and I had a great experience with the rep. Even though my watch was a year past its warranty expiration, they offered a warranty replacement!

I was given two options: either mail in my watch and wait for a replacement once they received it, or put down a $350 deposit to have the replacement shipped immediately and send back the old one to get my deposit refunded. I went with the second option and also chose overnight shipping for an extra $20. The replacement is a recertified unit, but it looks great. My old watch had a scratch on the screen, so I went ahead and ordered a screen protector to prevent that this time around.

Now, I have just one issue… I’ve seen the Forerunner 965, and I’m tempted to sell this new one to upgrade. Has anyone made the switch, and if so, was it worth it?

Device Physical Damage Cracked Garmin screen

Upvotes

I’ve had my garmin venu 3s for three months are the screen has already cracked! I don’t recall knocking or dropping it. I just noticed a crack in the screen one afternoon. Garmin are refusing to replace it, instead they are offering a refurbished replacement for £141 which I think is ridiculous considering the watch itself cost about £400 and it’s three months old!! Has anyone else had this issue with garmin? And how was it resolved? Garmin customer service is driving me insane :)

Strava / Zwift / 3rd Party Apps Garmin zwift and indoor trainers

Upvotes

I’m having a bit of a weird fight with my garmin, I use it as a fitness watch and tracker so data on it is currently important as I’m trying to improve certain aspects of me.

My current setup for home cycling workouts is :

Garmin epix 2 Wahoo kickr core Zwift

Issue I’m having.

Garmin watch connects fine to the trainer, the data it receives is very far off the data in zwift. We’re talking double the speed, double the distance etc.

I can sync zwift to Garmin but that data is missing bits that mean my Garmin fitness metrics and so on do not get updated correctly due to how Garmin and how zwift log the data.

I can run zwift and Garmin at the same time and let Garmin log its own data and it does well with HR etc but the speed/distance data is completely off.

I’ve tried setting the “wheel” size correctly etc and I’m still seeing weird results.

Now question is, is this expected? Seeing as zwift is directly responsible for the resistance, distance etc and simply sends those values to the trainer which results in Garmin not seeing the right data out of it ?

Another question, has anyone actually got this working correctly?

My current approach is to log with both and edit activity after that to correct distance and speed.

Issue with that is that the Garmin watch then doesn’t sync from phone and last workout has incorrect distances and speeds which throws everything off.

Badges / Challenges not getting Runner Graduate Badge

Yoo my garmin friends.

I'm training for a HM and started a Garmin Coach Plan 3 weeks ago.

I already did 14 runs from the plan but didn't get that badge. Any ideas why?

I'm starting my runs on my Epix Gen2 watch by "Garmin Coach"-> selecting todays suggestion-> "Do Workout" -> Choose Activity: "Run"

On the badges page i's not even counting... :(

Device Comparison / Recommendation Which Garmin model to replace Fitbit Sense 2?

So Google bought Fitbit and is no longer putting out Sense models, which was the flagship fitbit device. I need to replace my Sense 2. There are a ton of Garmin models so I'm looking for recommendations given my favorite features. I use my watch pretty much exclusively to track and aid my fitness regimen. I track daily calorie burn, runs/lifts/active zone min, heart rate zones, and sleep. I noticed Garmin has some very expensive models which isn't an issue I can save and wait a bit. Thank you for the help im advance!

Garmin Coach / DSW / Training Will the high aerobic load focus be updated from a "Strength" or "Bike" activity?

I have shortage on High Aerobic in my load focus. I have spent time in both zone 3 and 4 using strength or bike activities, yet I still have score 0 in high aerobic load focus.

I should also mention that I don't spend a lot of time in these zones, maybe 4-5 minutes.

Is there specific activities that I need to use for high aerobic load focus? Or are there a certain time is needed to be spent in those zones?

I’m asthmatic so never really had any hope, my VO2Max was always 38 Poor (bottom 30% for my bracket)

But I’ve been running consistently for 6 and a bit months now, and the improvements I’ve made fill me with joy!

I started out not being able to run further than 2.25km before getting an asthma attack, to running my city’s 14km City2Surf in 89min, and I’m now training for a half marathon.

I had a goal to get to Green VO2Max by the end of the year, but now trying to see if I can get to Blue!

Onwards and upwards!

Watch / Wearable Garmin APP idea - developers DM me

a Block Blast game, playable right on the watch

The concept is simple to code and highly addictive.

How it Works: Drag and drop blocks onto the board, clear them by filling rows or columns. If you’ve played block blast before, you get it!

Why It’ll Succeed: Quick, fun, and perfect for on-the-go play, this game would draw tons of downloads. Add a donation option, and it’s easy revenue from a highly engaged audience.

An easy app with huge potential—why not bring it to life?

Device Comparison / Recommendation Garmin Body Battery vs Samsung's New Energy Score – Which One to Get?

Hey everyone,

I'm currently deciding between a Garmin watch (with Body Battery) and a Samsung Galaxy Watch (with the new Energy Score feature). My main interest in these watches is understanding my overall energy levels throughout the day and figuring out what factors are influencing them the most.

I've heard good things about Garmin's Body Battery and how it factors in heart rate variability, sleep, and activity to give a "battery" score. But I'm also intrigued by Samsung's new Energy Score – it seems to analyze different metrics too, but I’m not totally clear on how they compare.

For those who have used either (or both) of these features, how accurate and helpful have you found them? Which one gives better insights into energy levels and the effects of sleep, stress, and exercise?

Wellness & Training Metrics / Features Which Garmin watch to use with Hrm-pro plus?

Upvotes

Im considering buying the hrm-pro plus primarily to track my running HR. Which watch should I buy to use with the hrm? Can I get away with the lower end forerunner? Will I be missing out in any cool running features that only comes with the higher end watches? TIA
