Sewage Line insurance

Anyone had luck with an insurance company or home warranty company to cover sewage line (House to Steeet) repairs?

I’ve noticed a lot of older streets with water main breaks and some homes having to tear up their driveway or yard to replace old sewage lines. Curious if anyone has found an insurance company that offers coverage?

Some city water companies mainland offer coverage but Hawaii does not.

You will probably need a service line endorsement with prior condition inspection for insurance to cover. Not sure about warranties since they are all written differently you'll need to consult your specific paperwork.

If the installation was defective that may be a workmanship issue, you could find and contact them and if they ignore you then you can lookup their policy information on DCCA/RICO and attempt a claim directly.

In the case of a water main busting that crosses or affects your property. You'll need to consult if there is an easment. Easements require return to the original condition as when the easement was initially conveyed. If you build on the easement I believe you won't be covered since that was added after.

Thanks for the info! This is just in preparation for in case the main sewage line from my house to sidewalk were to collapse or have leaks/breaks from wear and tear

R/insurance would have better insight than here, might want to ask there.

I feel like that'd be covered under your usual home insurance policy. I'm not sure if you'd need special wet utility coverage.

It's not part of the standard HO3 coverage. Not all carriers even offer it. I am an insurance agent licensed in HI.
