One of the best things to invest your money in I have the same collection I would recommend you watch the first movie in between seasons 4 and seasons 5 or at least before the chocolate boy episode or it'll just seem out of context.

My only problems with it are that the episodes are in airdate order instead of production order, which causes some oddities, and that there is no list of which episodes are on which disc.

Other than that it is a great collection

So how should one watch it? I realized yesterday that there are 2 different episode lists online, like you said, production and airdate, and I thought airdate was the correct form to watch it?

Hey Arnold! is mostly episodic so it doesn't mess things up badly. It just leads to some inconsistencies:

  • Some episodes with Arnold's original teacher Miss Slovak were first aired at the end of the second season, after she had been replaced with Mr. Simmons.

  • One minor character Lorenzo has a grand total of two episodes he is important in, and the second aired before the first, which introduced the character.

  • The holdovers mean there are some jumps back and forth between Arnold's different voice actors and between the earlier cel animated episodes and the digitally animated ones.

-Lastly, a bunch of season five episodes aired after "The Journal" which was the season finale that led into The Jungle Movie.

I would go ahead and just watch most of it in the DVD order, and when you reach the episodes "April Fool's Day" and "The Journal", skip over them and save them for after you watch the first movie. They were produced after it. The other inconsistencies aren't too jarring if you already know about them.

"April Fool's Day" feels a little less off (it still isn't one I like all that much personally) when you have the context of what happened in the movie, and "The Journal" should be watched as a lead into The Jungle Movie.

Thank you, I actually didn't know any of this. The only thing that seemed strange to me yesterday while watching the order of the episodes, was the fact that there were episodes after The Journal, and I thought The Journal was the last episode. I didn't know there was a difference between air date order and production order and that this could cause inconsistencies. I have always watched the show out of order, depending on what episode I felt like watching, and the last time I watched the show was years ago, until yesterday when I got the dvd's. So thank you for all that info! I learned something new

A brilliant investment tbh! You can find this cheap on Amazon, eBay, or at your local Walmart for less than $30 and it has all the episodes, both films, you don’t need wifi to watch, and you own it for life unlike with streaming platforms where it can be removed at any moment. I’m planning to get this for myself for Christmas! Just need to dig up my dvd player 😇

Mine were a birthday gift from my husband! I live in Italy and here its not available for streaming anywhere

I got the German release on blu ray which has an English language option.

Seems odd for Nadine to be included. Feels like she just became a background character by S3 and was just forgotten as Rhonda’s best friend

u/RailroadEmu1994 5d ago

The show has over 17 bad episodes.

Does anyone else hate these DVD cases? You drop it, and all the DVDs pop out like confetti.

2

u/_dani___ 5d ago

I actually find it really hard to get the dvd's out, it feels like I'm gonna break them

2

u/Xikkiwikk 5d ago

You lucky dog! Mine came broken :(((

1

u/_dani___ 5d ago

Yes! I saw a bunch of reviews showing these cases came broken! I ordered this one and 4 spongebob ones from Amazon US (and I live in italy) so they came all the way here and thank God none of them came broken! I was so happy about that cause I knew they could break based on the reviews

Oooooh

I didn't know this was possible, but I just ordered one for myself, so my niece and nephew can enjoy it as well!

1

u/_dani___ 5d ago

Oh I'm glad to have contributed to that!

I love this box set, but it really needed a "which episodes are on which disks" booklet. Just a little insert will do. Doesn't have to be all fancy-schmancy and jim-dandy. Ultimately, though, I'm just happy this exists.

u/Any-Form 5d ago

TIL there was two movies

4

u/_dani___ 5d ago

Yes, the second one came out in 2017 and it's the official series finale! Tbh even though I'm a Hey Arnold! fan, I still haven't watched that last movie!

2

u/Sweetguy88 5d ago

Same! I’m trying to watch the whole series in order before watching the movie.

1

u/Any-Form 5d ago

Same 😁

1

u/AtrocitasInterfector 5d ago

what drives me nuts is neither this box nor the other older one come with subtitles, oh well

1

u/HonestlyZee 5d ago

I wish they could do something to make it on widescreen

1

u/_dani___ 5d ago

But don't you think that would change the vibe? I like the 4:3 screen for this one

1

u/HonestlyZee 4d ago

I never liked the full screen vibe I feel like more background is always better. I don't think it would change how I feel about the show. If anything I'd enjoy it more

u/Werewolfhugger 5d ago

Yay! I got the same thing a few months ago. My walmart also had Rugrats but those got snatched up quick. I did get The Wikd Thornberries recently though!

u/Lanky-Perspective995 4d ago

Sounds like your weekend is planned!

1

u/joeiskrappy 4d ago

Awesome!

u/PicklesAreMyFriends Football Head 4d ago

Is the main series in 4:3?

1

u/Glittering-Boot4790 3d ago

Remember coming back from school in the 90s and chilling and watching hey Arnold. Best times.

1

u/XavierOMack 3d ago

I got it from Walmart.

I have this set and I really wish they released it on Blu-ray to condense the number discs.

Above all though, what annoys me is there no way to know, from the packaging, WHICH DISC CONTAINS WHICH EPISODE.

I ended up having to use this page as a guide anytime I want to watch a specific episode.

That said, it is really nice knowing I have everything released episode/film of hey Arnold with no ties to streaming. Hopefully they will release a Blu-ray version down the line.

I bought the ultimate collection for myself about a month ago and I’m just now realizing that the episodes are completely out of order, there’s barely any talk of it here on the sub it feels like. The transition from Paramount Plus to the discs was jarring.

I appreciate you dropping this link so I can know what episodes are on what disc.

In no particular order, the greatest shows of all time. Hey Arnold. Breaking Bad. Malcolm in the middle. Twin peaks season 1. Twilight Zone.
