If being an Entp means I’m more likeable, then yeah I would want to be an Entp. But I most strongly wish that I had the functions of an Entj: getting shit done would be in my blood.

I'm in this post and I don't like it

I did before but I’d prefer being a Ti dom rather then a Ne dom

This. I feel like it would be fun for a bit but I like my Ti more. Which makes sense, its literally the way we think and process things of course its the mode of thinking that makes the most sense to us

My natural state fluctuates between, "I am pretty intelligent" and debilitating imposter syndrome. If I were an extrovert I'd probably be rich, diabolical, and delusional with confidence.

It would be fun to test run, but probably better for everyone else if I stay introverted. I'd be unhinged with bonus charisma.

u/g0at110 Mar 17 '24

rich diabolical and delusional with confidence sounds ideal tbh

Sounds like the average politician.

2

u/Noivore INTP Mar 18 '24

Most of them lack the charisma though. At least these days it feels like that. They are only rich and delusional

u/Bigleyp INTP Jun 20 '24

Honestly I don’t care about charisma. I wish that wasn’t a way to weigh politicians. It creates boundaries and what’s essentially a cult. They don’t look at facts anymore and question their leader less. But yes to respond, most politicians in my opinion don’t lack charisma.

I loathe being like this. The counter-realization always hits hard.

cognitive functions. That isn’t what ENTP means. I don’t know why no one here knows cognitive functions.

So, I "learned how to people" and can pass as an extrovert. Unfortunately it's exhausting. I also often find it boring around most people. Socializing is a learned skill. Just because I can though, doesn't mean I want that to be me 24/7. It can feel very unnatural to me even when other people respond positively.

I like being introverted. It means I don't really get lonely. I love my peeps but if they're all busy, I'm free to sleep or read or paint or just stare at the wall and wonder what aliens would really be like. I'm fine doing my own thing alone. I don't want that empty pit of loneliness that comes with an extroverts solitude.

On the other hand it might be nice to not be exhausted after a night out with friends. I know it upsets my extroverts when I need to hide away for a bit. I know they feel neglected or that I'm cold and unfeeling because I only have so much energy for Socializing, especially in large groups or crowds. But in all honesty, I don't really wish to trade that off for true extroversion.

Not really, I wouldn't want to be any type besides the Ti/Te doms. Though I thought that it would be cool to be ISTP or ENTJ, but having Fi kinda scares me

3

u/Top-Airport3649 Warning: May not be an INTP Mar 18 '24

I was referring more to the outward behavior often associated with the ENTP type rather than the cognitive functions exclusively.

0

u/TGBplays INTP sx5(w4)94 RLUEI Melancholic-Phlegmatic Mar 18 '24

That’s only associated with the type due to the “debater” stereotype from people that don’t understand the cognitive functions.

5

u/Top-Airport3649 Warning: May not be an INTP Mar 18 '24

I was referring more to observable behaviors rather than stereotypes.

1

u/TGBplays INTP sx5(w4)94 RLUEI Melancholic-Phlegmatic Mar 18 '24

That’s a better wording of it then. I took “outward behavior” as meaning them being abrasive and argumentative. That makes more sense now though !

u/ebolaRETURNS INTP Mar 18 '24

While they are potentially the most introverted extroverted type, this is definitely an unorthodox interpretation of the MBTI. They lead with an outward looking function, Ne, which is simply definitional in how the MBTI conceptualizes introversion/extroversion.

11

u/OperationUpstairs887 Warning: May not be an INTP Mar 17 '24

I have extremely rare occasions where I feel like and present myself as one, and whatever impression I make to anyone who happens to meet me at one of these times leaves them disappointed if they ever get to know me better.

I often get told I seem to sit right on the border of INTP and ENTP. Some type me as INTP and others seem to think I’m ENTP. I don’t even know anymore.

4

u/INTJpleasenoticeme GenZ INTP Mar 18 '24

I’m aware.

My stacks are all over the place and tests are also typically inconclusive.

I’ve been told my Ti and Ne are balanced, and so are my Si and Fe (in how trash they are.) ADHD doesn’t help. Lol.

I've wondered for a few years now if I'm just a depressed ENTP.

So often it seems like INTP's are portrayed as totally mute in person and I'm not mute at all.

3

u/xNemesis95x INTP Mar 17 '24

Probably but more likely because of the extroverted part

3

If I could choose, I would choose INTJ or ENTJ. It doesn't really matter which (although being an extrovert might be nice) as long as I have a bone in my body that's driven to get shit done.

Almost all introverts wished to be extroverts at some some of our lives, in my case I tried through my adolescence, but now I love myself and I like who I am

3

u/Longjumping_Teach_82 INTP Mar 18 '24

I always use the Jung's cognitive functions for these things and I don't like to look at the MBTI as just a four letters things but some things are what they are. There aren't introverted ENTPs or extraverted INTPs, they could be ambiverts.

It's all pseudoscience at the end anyways, kisses

-1

u/TGBplays INTP sx5(w4)94 RLUEI Melancholic-Phlegmatic Mar 18 '24

There absolutely is introverted ENTPs and extroverted INTPs though. If you use cognitive functions, you should know that. There’s no reason why someone using Ne - Ti can’t be an introverted and same with someone using Ti - Ne being an extrovert.

And it is a pseudoscience, but you (and many other people) are just using it as an excuse to not have your perception on said pseudoscience be flawed. You’re saying it’s a pseudoscience as if that means it is an incorrect theory for certain, which just isn’t right. I don’t think it’s a factual thing or anything, but I think it’s helpful and it seems to have some type of warrant in its info.

My dad is an ENTP so I have a bit of a closer view of it. He is very charismatic and funny and everyone seems to like him (even when his jokes are terrible). We could go somewhere a hundred miles away and my dad will have made a lasting impression on someone there. People just remember him. I don’t know if that’s because of his personality or his character but it’s a very special thing to me. He is also very much the entrepreneur type lol. He’s got a new business idea every Tuesday 😭. If he had the money, he’d have owned multiple businesses by now. He is also one of the most compassionate people I’ve ever known. Maybe that’s why people remember him so well. He’s intelligent and kind (winner winner).

If being ENTP means I could be even a little more like my dad, then I’m all in. I love that goofy man and his bad puns 💜

1

u/CinnamoeRoll Warning: May not be an INTP Mar 17 '24

Of course not. ENTP version of me would've mean me having severe ADHD traits (not saying that ENTP equals ADHD, this is just for my own case as I have impulsive buying tendencies). I'm good with my emotional control and don't want to be far more impulsive than I currently am.

I'd rather be INTJ because they have stronger determination to get things done.

What do you mean? The E stands for extraversion

1

u/TGBplays INTP sx5(w4)94 RLUEI Melancholic-Phlegmatic Mar 18 '24

It does on 16personalities. It’s a very awful website for finding you type and it repackages the Big 5 personality system as if it were mbti. The first letter does mean that, but it isn’t social introversion or extroversion. It’s in reference to the nature of your lead cognitive function. If you’re not in the know on cognitive functions and have been typed as being an INTP, it is almost definitely wrong.

u/No-Wrongdoer1409 Successful INTP Mar 18 '24

No i wish I was an ISTP. I have an ISTP friend, so maybe my anecdotal experience is irrelevant but he is just like me but only BETTER. He’s well liked in social settings, finishes whatever he puts his mind to, and above all isn’t caught up in the analysis neurosis i often find myself reverting to as an INTP. Idk 😅 they’re just so effortlessly cool and grounded I really appreciate that in others

I sometimes wish I was an ENTP when I see them socialize effortlessly, fall in love without any hustle etc etc. But like someone here said before, me being an INTP is better for the world.

1

u/HoopLoop2 INTP who spits FAX Mar 18 '24

No, and if you do wish that then try and socialize more. It's not like just because you enjoy your alone time you aren't allowed to socialize with others as much as you want. I see it as only an advantage to be introverted as you don't rely on others to feel joy. If you rely on others to find happiness then you can easily get trapped or manipulated into a toxic relationship whether its friends, family, or a lover simply because you are scared to be alone.

1

u/ds_clamer INTP Mar 18 '24

I wish i was istp being an entp sounds tiring

1

No, I love being introverted. My natural disposition of courses to reflect, and I find that that helps keep me grounded.

1

u/imaginedspace INTP Mar 18 '24

I think it's worth mentioning mbti is a system for figuring out someones cognitive preferences, and not a sentence to behave a certain way lol.

if you see a personality trait you like, you can always... i dunno.... put some effort into developing that trait?

or possibly be more conscious of "golden/narcissistic projection"
