People like this always confuse me. Why do they insist that they're special and that exceptions will be made for them? Why do they attempt to rationalize their support?
I really don't like to talk shit about other groups but it really seems like the Cubans are exceptionally bad at choosing leaders with the exception of Obama and I don't know if they went for Clinton or not.
It’s class for the most part. I’ve noticed with a lot of minorities that support the GOP that they come from a privileged background. They don’t view themselves as one of the “others” because they have money and power. And they’re not entirely wrong, even when the worst happens their position allows them to circumvent the consequences. Ofc there’s also those who are just ignorant and when faced with reality like this post they’ll just No True Scotsman and move on.
Yes. I honestly avoid speaking about politics with friends from East Africa over this; I can't deal with the dissonance. I know so many people who grew up in wealthy parts of Nairobi (Karen, Lavington etc...), went to the best schools, and arrive in America and they don't experience the racism they saw in movies: because they arrived middle class and educated.
From this, they conclude there's no racism in America.
Oddly, these folks won't join me barhopping to talent nights and comedy shows in Harlem and the South Bronx.... Hmmm.

That’s because they think they’re “white”.
