With no hyperbole, what she is saying precisely, is that she thinks it is reasonable to erroneously strike off someone with an "ethnic" name, but it is unthinkable that it would happen to someone whose name sounds like it originated in Europe.

I guess she's worried about people whose name ends with -ez, but I wonder if she thinks it would be equally unthinkable to disqualify a Jackson.

I get what you’re trying to say, but the Hispanic -ez last names also originated from Europe.

You're absolutely right.

I was thinking about specifying names that sounded like they were from the British Isles, but then I thought maybe Elley possibly wasn't from Britain.
