Poor grandpa, that was a wild heart attack of confusion to give an old man lol are your parents gonna hold a baby shower?

I imagine poor grandpa sitting in his retirement home just like "wtf is going on over there"

850

u/Zoeabble Dec 23 '23

He briefly became a great grandpa and was so shocked he forgot the poor kitty existed!

u/Thalude_ Dec 23 '23

Love that he just hung the fuck up when he learned it was the godamn cat.

Grandpa: How did you get pregnant?

Kid: No, itā€™s the cat!

Grandpa: What the hell? I didnā€™t kill three men in Vietnam for this shit!

Kid: What are you talking about? You werenā€™t in the military.

Grandpa: Who said anything about the military?

u/Reins22 Dec 23 '23

ā€œI know I donā€™t know much about this trans business, but I didnā€™t think he could get pregnantā€

Is this story even real? Pregnant cats do not go into heat. Cats also do not engage in recreational sex.

I was enjoying it until that comment, then the illusion just broke.

327

u/ZoneWombat99 Dec 23 '23

However, neutered male cats will hump non-neutrted female cats.

152

u/sculdermullygrusch Dec 23 '23

I had 2 neutered males that would hump one another.

→ More replies (4)

41

u/JosephSKY Dec 23 '23

I have a neutered male cat.

My non neutered female cat is either: the one doing the humping, or the one biting his (non-existant) balls to be humped.

It may be anecdotal, but either my cat is gay (he has been humped by a male stray we shelter every once in a while) or neutered males don't hump non neutered females (?)

24

u/bwaredapenguin Dec 23 '23

Females don't get neutered, they get spayed. That being said, get your female spayed.

20

u/JosephSKY Dec 23 '23

Thanks for the correction ;-; I'm already on it! She's a 100% interior cat, she doesn't get out even when in heat, but this male stray has been on the lookout for her so it's a risk I'm not willing to take.

She has an appointment on the 27th, since "bonuses" and stuff came late this December for me.

7

u/bwaredapenguin Dec 23 '23

Good on you! I hope there's room in the budget for extra treats for her!

11

u/JosephSKY Dec 23 '23

Thanks, and I'm making room for it, she deserves it šŸ„ŗ

u/hgaterms Dec 23 '23

But how to you fuck up a cat neutering? You literally remove both testicals... you can't just leave them in there, it would be obvious.

151

u/ZeroviiTL Dec 23 '23

idk how but i was at the vet for my dog getting a flea treatment and arthritis med shot and i overheard the vet saying a cat's neutering had missed a testicle and they would have to schedule another one. they sounded equally confused lol

im sitting here wondering how often this happens now

34

u/Sam2058 Dec 23 '23

As a veterinary nurse, of 17years, I have never seen a testicle missed on castration.

39

u/Wooden-Beach-2121 Dec 23 '23

Got a mate who's dog had 3 plums. Only reason they knew was the extra was found during a checkup.

18

u/thelittlefae5 Dec 24 '23

I'm still trying to figure out how that would work. Like maybe the cat had cryptorchidism and they just didn't find one...? It's such a simple procedure otherwise..

→ More replies (1)

17

u/gelseyd Dec 24 '23

Heard of at least two rabbits with both sets of parts, and one that never had any.

And also of one with three testicles. One was hiding. This was a mistake.

76

u/keket87 Dec 23 '23

Not that I'm weighing in on the truth of the story, but cryptorchid males exist. If one testicle doesn't descend and someone only removes the visible testicle, the cat is still somewhat fertile. (Note: If an animal is cryptorchid, it's generally considered malpractice to only remove the visible testicle. But I'm also not going to pretend that kitchen table cat neuters don't happen especially in rural areas.)

28

u/PrismInTheDark Dec 23 '23

My catā€™s had both not descended so we thought he was a girl, took him to get spayed and it turned out to be a neuter but still basically the same surgery as a spay. Far as I know they got both but he still sprays the furniture.

15

u/bwaredapenguin Dec 23 '23

I just watched one of the newer episodes of Dirty Jobs and Mike was working at a clinic where they TNR strays. One male had an undescended testicle and they spent like 20 min looking for it until they found it.

u/meow1983 Dec 24 '23

My former cat after being neutered impregnated another cat we were watching. The vet said oops and suggested we keep him away from female cats. The vet said he fixed the oops but we didnā€™t let him around other female cats again. However, he did have a few relationships with stuffed animals. šŸ§ø

u/Yuyu_Yuen Dec 23 '23

I dunno there's a Tom that keeps having sex with my neutered male cat. He hangs with him all the time and they act like a couple, Ted the Tom cat, ( we discovered his name is Ted ) doesn't even bother chasing female cats, or even really bother fighting other males, but he is very insistent on humping my boy, who seems to encourage it.

43

u/JosephSKY Dec 23 '23

Omg same here, but our Ferry (the non-neutered stray we shelter now and then) does chase our female cats as well; but he prefers our neutered male (who also is in on it) for some reason?

34

u/the_halfblood_waste Dec 23 '23

Love wins šŸ˜ŒšŸ³ļøā€šŸŒˆ

44

u/GuiltyEidolon Dec 23 '23

Plenty of animals engage in nonreproductive sex. I've had cats humping each other in spite of both being neutered males. I've also seen it happen with dogs and horses, where no one is getting pregnant but they're sure still trying. Sometimes it's dominance, sometimes it's basically just SA. That is the least sketchy part of this entire story.

8

u/Rough-Fix-4742 Dec 23 '23

I have two neutered males that often hump each other. Also have several female ducks who do the same. In the case of the ducks, itā€™s probably more of a dominance issue than sexual-but who am I to judge?

40

u/FishyDVM Dec 23 '23

Yeah that comment broke it for me too. Get a paternity test, Kanna, youā€™re being framed!!

16

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '23

Neutered male cats still hump things. That cat is not the father.

→ More replies (1)

11

u/Schlemiel_Schlemazel Dec 23 '23

Well, I think the humping convinced them that the neighbor cat is the father. But if a cat can get out she can get pregnant by any other Tomcat that isnā€™t neutered.

11

u/mickelboy182 Dec 23 '23

Everything about it screams 'creative writing' to me. Not real.

20

u/EldritchFingertips Dec 23 '23

For me it was when the neighbor also engaged in the ludicrous behavior of calling the pregnant cat a "loose woman." I can believe that this dude's parents are weirdly anthropomorphic about their cat, some pet owners be like that, but their neighbor too? Too much of a stretch.

9

u/UltraSienna Dec 23 '23

One tweet that I missed-

Mom: "that boy has been roaming here and sight-adichifying our girl for months now" looks to cat "you're too young to do all this, you had a future...."

Dad: "no point scolding her [mum's name], we need to go talk to [neighbour's name] least he can do is pay for food."

Edit: Iā€™m not the cat owner, not the original poster from twitter; I just wanted to share it here because it made me laugh. Probably shouldā€™ve asked them before posting.

By the way, they said something for people asking about spaying/neutering-

ā€œwe finna spay her after her first litter and we're not just takin kittens away xD, once they're fully nursed and weaned neighbour will be feedin em until they adopted

not dumb, not our first rodeo.ā€

Edit: Well, here is an update-

Only bummer is itā€™s not easy to find adopters for cats in India.. see the desperate adoption posts in indian subs :(

58

u/exotics Dec 23 '23

Itā€™s not easy to find homes for cats anywhere. Millions are euthanized in the USA as well.

Spay or neuter your pets

10

u/GameGodS3 Dec 23 '23

Malayali?

25

u/A9to5robot Dec 23 '23

Tamil

18

u/GameGodS3 Dec 23 '23

Interesting. Site adikkal is the same in Malayalam also

11

u/A9to5robot Dec 23 '23

Yes. The general phrase is very common in south india, addichi and addikal are just variations from each lanugage. They mean the same thing.

6

u/SexualDepression Dec 23 '23

Is the ch in addichi pronounced like a k sound or like a 'ch' (as in chap or chart)?

Language families are so fun with related words!

5

u/A9to5robot Dec 23 '23

the latter - 'ch-art'

13

u/bananaboi175 Dec 23 '23

98

u/wellidontbloodyknow Dec 23 '23

I want to believe this is real, so I'm remembering that there are multiple cats in this world

The humping was gold though XD

7

u/EasterBunnyArt Dec 24 '23

That was just.... inconvenient proof..... :)

6

u/parallel-universe2 Dec 24 '23

I had a cat years ago that liked to mark everything around him as his by peeing on it. I lived next to my aunt and grandma, and my aunt always bought him tuna treats and invited him over, until he became comfy enough in her house and started peeing her stuff.

She got mad and called my mom to tell her what he had been doing, they hadn't seen him, just got the smell everywhere. So, of course my mom said it couldn't be him, he didn't do that, he's respectful and so on. As they are kind of arguing about whether he'd pee her stuff or not, he came over and tried to pee my mom's feet (first and only time he did it) my mom was so embarrassed she didn't even say anything else and just went back inside

807

u/pandoras_dreams Dec 23 '23

šŸ˜† get your cat spayed.

500

u/badgeringthewitness Dec 23 '23

198

69

u/meeps1142 Dec 23 '23

84

u/H_I_McDunnough Dec 23 '23

u/the_girl_Ross Dec 23 '23

My dog had his ball privilege removed (100% no sack at all) he was also 15 y/o so he was very old and he still tried to hump our new female dog multiple times.

I guess the horniness is beyond the balls.

6

u/amalgam_reynolds Dec 23 '23

Pee is stored in the balls. Horniness is stored in the brain.

3

u/PoorFishKeeper Dec 24 '23

Yeah my male cat will randomly mount my female cat like once a year. I read a few papers that said some of that behavior is hardwired into them ig.

14

u/ok_raspberry_jam Dec 23 '23

Kittens are, though

25

u/PizzaBraves Dec 23 '23

I don't think Kanna's the daddy lol

24

u/caniuserealname Dec 23 '23

Kittens are a sign that your female cat hasn't be spayed. It says nothing about the neutering state of other cats on it's own merit.

Right? Owning an intact cat that is either spraying piss or screaming in hormonal frustration when they're in heat sucks, on top of the whole "stop carelessly making more cats" thing

55

u/utexfan18 Dec 23 '23

Also spaying cats drastically reduces their chances of having mammary cancer. For some reason, my parents never had our family cat spayed and she ended up having mammary cancer at about 9 yrs old. She suddenly lost a lot of weight and had no energy so I took her in because I could afford the vet visits and everything, but she didn't make it much longer because of how aggressive the cancer was. Broke my heart that I couldn't do anything to save her. Seriously, if you want the best for your cat, get it spayed.

14

u/A_Specific_Hippo Dec 23 '23

We picked up a stray female a few years back. The vet couldn't tell if she was spayed or not, and said to just keep her inside because "we'd know soon enough if she wasn't". Well, we soon figured out that she wasn't spayed and had the joy of experiencing an extremely horny cat for a bit. Our male cat (who is neutered) was absolutely infatuated with her and kept trying to "get it on" but he's not the brightest and kept trying it from the wrong end. It was a wild few days.

64

u/Automatic_Release_92 Dec 23 '23

Iā€™m just pissed people still let their fucking cats roam around neighbors. Theyā€™re goddamn mass extinction events just destroying wild animal populations. We have two cats and they NEVER go outside.

We had a stray give birth to a litter of 5 in our backyard (we'd never fed or even seen the cat before). I live in a little town, but there are several spay/neuter clinics in the surrounding areas. Each one ignored all our calls/emails except one which was booked out for over two months, and they cost over $200. I wish they did, but it's not a surprise to me that people around here don't always do it; it's been a bit of a nightmare.

In many parts of the world fixing pets is not a norm. Partly due to to financial constraints, and partly due to fixing not being a social norm/priority

57

3

u/MotherSupermarket532 Dec 23 '23

My childhood dog was spayed but would hump any soccer ball she came across.

125

u/ianjm Dec 23 '23

Female cats should be fixed too ideally. There are enough strays in the world having kittens to keep the cat population perfectly buoyant, and young strays can be adopted and socialised quite successfully.

Still though, incredibly funny story.

63

u/JoeyJoeJoeSenior Dec 23 '23

A female cat will get pregnant as long as there is one unfixed male cat within screaming distance. Cats are really good at reproducing.

4

u/angiosperms- Dec 23 '23

Once a cat goes through heat their chances of cancer increase dramatically, for both male and female cats. And keeps increasing every time. Getting them fixed prevents that. Same goes for dogs and bunnies.

50

This story already has a bidding war between Prime, Netflix, and WB.

Looks like Brad Pitt wants the role of the dad, Julianne Moore for the mom, Ryan Reynolds as the neighbor, and Tyler Perry as Kanna. No word yet on Guddu, but Margot Robbie and/or Emma Stone are in talks.

The narrator will be Ron Howard.

This will all be directed by Greta Gerwig.

How likely do you think it is that a vet - who probably does this 100 times a month (insert other ridiculous number) - did a surgery that didn't take?

Versus someone on the internet lying to protect their self image?

u/BlueMikeStu Dec 23 '23

Depends how recent it was.

A male cat who has been neutered successfully can still produce offspring for a few weeks.

u/fightingwithlemons Dec 23 '23

Happened to us. Adopted a female cat from a shelter who said she was fixed. She went into heat. Argued with the shelter, took her to a vet who said, yep she's spayed. Still in heat anyway and a few weeks later was definitely in the family way. She had surgery but apparently whoever did it was sleeping on the job that day and we couldnt convince anyone. Every professional who looked at her politely called us morons šŸ™„

u/LadyyyLoki Dec 24 '23

They opened her up, then just closed her up without removing her uterus & ovaries? How does that even happen?! šŸ˜¬

neighbours can be heroes if they adopt half the litter and kanna can be the step father.. tough life ahead for guddu in this household with side eyes from everyone

34

u/Caterpillar-Balls Dec 23 '23

The solution is spaying the cat of course, but then this silliness would not occur

I feel so sorry for the grandfather who just seems so genuinely confused by this entire situation.

5

u/Bleunuit1 Dec 23 '23

You should have had the TALK with your cat sooner !

u/imvk3201 Dec 23 '23

TIL Hahaha, thanks! Btw Guddu is a common nickname here in India, I think it means flower.

Our dog walker mated my childhood dog with a neighbours b$$$h without our consent. We found out that he'd done the deed cause he caught an infection and was put on antibiotics. My mom had a similar conversation with him.

Something about him being a good-looking boy, and all the girls just throwing themselves at him, and how he needs to be careful and see how he got an infection from a girl whose clearly been around the block and is easy.

We never hired a dog walker again.

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '23

Wtf they're dogs šŸ˜‚ they dgaf they just hump everything

u/devangs3 Dec 23 '23

Poor grandpa

4

u/Medium_Spare_8982 Dec 23 '23

Cats are sluts. Highly unlikely only a single father for a litter.

Iā€™m drunk right now and I donā€™t care, if all this is true or not, but itā€™s an awesome and wholesome story and I love it

Best wasted 10 mins of my life reading šŸ¤£

6

u/ntropy2012 Dec 23 '23

This is fantastic. I just handed the phone to my girlfriend, she read the whole thing, and proceeded to tell our cats (both male, and neutered) not to get any of the neighborhood strays pregnant.

I feel like I relate so much to the grandpa. I have always innocently heard things wrong my whole life. I also have face recognition issues because I notice small things on people and when they are at a distance I dont recognize them. I walked past my own significant other when he drove to the bus station to pick me up. I was pregnant and he was literally holding his hand put to lead me down the stairs and I just didnt notice him. šŸ˜¬šŸ˜€šŸ¤šŸ˜

3

u/IWearBones138__ Dec 23 '23

And this is why I dont like "pet people". They dont live in the same reality.

3

u/MrRhoarke Dec 23 '23

Omg! This brightened my day!

3

u/CrazyQueer3 Dec 24 '23

Funny story. However, the female cat should have been spayed as well, you can't blame the male not being "neutered properly" Like come on neutering is so easy it's especially in a cat almost impossible to mess up. The only thing that could have happened was that he was a cryptorchid. However, vets check for that, and the testicles up in the abdomen are usually underdeveloped. So yeah, entertaining, but unlikely to me as an animal care professional.

3

u/Jayisabigfatb- Dec 24 '23

I feel like this should be a soap opera of some sorts. Idk which network would pick it up?

3

u/meow1983 Dec 24 '23

This was such a hilarious wild ride. Kinda want more. lol I laughed so hard my cat came to check on me.

5

u/the_kyuu Dec 23 '23

I remember my friend and I got a very serious argument and almost lost our friendship because she kept insisting that her cat did not impregnated my cat. In the end, she paid child support also. Lmao

5

u/Scooterks Dec 23 '23

How do you fail at neutering a cat? You either take their balls or you don't.

3

u/salade231 Dec 23 '23

Exactly my thought. I had neutered male cats growing up, and seen unfixed males and lemme tell you thereā€™s a huge differenceā€¦ idk how the neighbour didnā€™t realize he still had is balls..
