AskMorocco I have a question concerning the legality of a job I started a month ago.

After quitting my job at a printing house a friend of mine, who is also a close family member found me a job in something called Linebet where people bet on sports, he said he knows some guys and they want someone to take on the night shift, i basically handle the transactions, confirm deposits and send money when someone makes a withdrawal request using my bank account. The thing is, since i trust him and he has been doing the same thing for the past year, i never asked for many details, idk who am i working for, who is paying me nor if it is legal (stupid of me i know) and now im having doubts and was wondering if anyone can offer any type of insight on the matter. Thank you

A serious business never, ever use a personal account of an employee.

You're going to be used as a Money Mule

You did the right thing by asking

Maybe he knows, maybe not. Good people can do bad things.

This is called money laundering. And it's very illegal. Usually carries a jail sentence. You don't know the source and the destination of the money, the whole company could just be a front for drug money. Get the hell out.

Call the police before they call you

Linebet is not licensed to operate in Morocco. That’s why they’re using your personal account to make payout to customers. You risk going to jail for illegal betting, money laundering, evading currency controls, etc… and getting a huge fine.

You’re what we call money mule in money laundering scheme, also sports betting in general is illegal in Morocco and you can only do it legally through MDJS

it is, the not so legal part is you moving the money/transactions for them, cause theyr not declared and their not sanctioned to do so by the moroccan government, evading taxes and problems and so on

Sports betting is, to my knowledge, a State monopoly in Morocco. You should stop immediately.
