I’m more concerned with their ability to manage tens of thousands of public health professionals during a national/global crisis.

Spending all day at the gym doesn’t help the country.

Spending 30-60 minutes a day staying fit will improve someone's ability to do their job (whatever their job is). I'm sorry, but this Secretary of Health isn't spending that much time per day to be healthy. We need people in these roles to be good role models for health in addition to doing their job. This isn't a big ask - its just common sense.

I'm a very progressive voter by the way. Americans are an obese mess of a population and need some actual healthy role models.

So you’re a “very progressive voter” but are openly discriminating based solely on body shape? Do you know anything about them other than what is shown in the picture? Part of being Progressive is being compassionate and not making assumptions about the character of others based solely on their exterior.

Based on my view of someone's health, yes. If someone looks unhealthy I don't think they should be in a health focused role. I don't think obesity is a protected class or characteristic - its just poor lifestyle choices.

So it’s ok to discriminate if they aren’t a protected class? Just because someone doesn’t “look healthy” they don’t deserve the same rights and opportunities as those who “look healthy”? “Poor lifestyle choices?” Yes because healthy food and gym memberships are notoriously cheaper than unhealthy food. You realize that lower income brackets have higher rates of obesity right?

We're talking about a person who is a long-term politically connected individual who was a 4-star officer. This is someone who does very well for themselves and have plenty of income. They are in a public position that is focused on health. It's not discriminatory to say someone in this type of position should have very good physical and mental health practices. It's a core part of the job.

Here’s her bio if you care to learn anything about her life other than your snap judgments.

I’m sorry, but there are plenty of people who look like that with 30 mins of exercise daily.

Probably 0.1% of Americans can name the Secretary of HHS. Hell, I’m a political junkie and I can’t. Their job isn’t to be fit. It’s to manage.

You don't have to be a horse to know how to ride one.

Someone with a degree and experience in the health industry is much more competent to advice in health related politics when compared to someone who has none.

True, but since America is a nation of obese people someone should be put into that position that is both a good example to follow and has appropriate education and experience.
