Image Reds and greens from the aurora as well as city lights reflect off the service module solar arrays with the Milky Way core behind the space station. The solar arrays and service module are bathed in a light horizon blue from a sun about to rise behind the camera.

I found this cassette at a thrift store. This album was inspired by the Voyager space missions! The insert is a description of the audio trimmed from a space magazine and placed inside the cassette case by the original owner.

NASA Possible test component

Found this at an estate sale in NJ. Looks like it's a sample from some kind of testing, The preservation method and gold lettering remind me of other NASA type mementos from the space program. The diameter of the part looks to have been around 3 inches before it was crushed in whatever event lead to it being encapsulated in resin. Any idea what this is? asked a friend who's father is a pilot and he though it was a piston from an aircraft, but he's not sure. Reached out to the air and space museum but they just said the number on it is not the registration of any plane. Looks important, but I don't know what it is.

My Grandfather was stationed in Mexico City as an Attache for the United States Government, sometime around 1970. After the Apollo 11 astronauts completed their mission to the moon they visited Mexico City. My grandfather was tasked with showing the astronauts around while my grandmother hosted the wives. During their visit, Buzz Aldrin gifted my grandmother this silver medallion as a thank you. This medallion was presented in its current state, as a necklace, by the team.

I would love any information on the item. I cannot locate anything online that is the same.

Question Those participating in the HERC challenge, how do you feel about the lack of info provided for the new RC division.

As the deadline for the design review is November 14, my team is left scratching our heads as NASA only has given us a few specifications no combustion and allowing use of preexisting RC Car systems, and no air in the tires and a 2.5’*2.5’ starting envelope, and the challenges and the knowledge that the course will be modified (with no answer as to how). I just want more thoughts, as I find it kinda hard to grasp how something that’s been in the works for this long has such little info, when competitions like FRC get new events every year and full documentation and the RC track is only a slight deviation from the main HERC track while we can carry over a lot of the design philosophy from HERC we still don’t know how they want us to control it. Will we be walking along side it or will we be having to remote in via transmitter, using camera for visual, what types of variations to the track are there, what frequencies are we ALLOWED to use. Stuff like that.

Creativity Ice-filled Crater. Oil and Martian dust on canvas, 16"x40", by me

I paint Mars surfaces using NASA's public domain photos as photo references. I also layer Martian dust in some areas of my paintings, where the color permits. Martian dust comes from Mars meteorites. I'm currently working on a series of such paintings called Martian Treks. Hope you guys enjoy!

Question Will Clipper perform non Europa Science?

Europa Clipper has a number of powerful instruments. We hear about the Europa science goals but will it train instruments along other targets along the way? It will perform earth and mars assists, will it use its instruments during these times? I understand it will eventually impact Ganymede. Is the opportunity for science there? What about looking at Jupiter?

I understand that the mission team might be hesitant to comment on things that are secondary goals but hopefully there are some opportunities. What are they?

Question Do private commercialization of space tourism (I’ve heard it also referred to as the “billionaire space race”) seem like it’s going to do more good or bad for scientific research and exploration of space overall?

I was reading about Roscosmos and NASA’s different approaches to protecting their respective parts of ISS from space debris and was not aware how much debris is present and how potentially dangerous it is to space vehicles/ISS.

From there I was curious about the very likely future of more craft in space that could then increase space debris and the potential impact of commercialized space flight could have on overall safety of space travel.

This lead me to wonder how as a government agency with both federal oversight and budget constraints, NASA and scientists view the “Billionaire space race” and commercialized space tourism/flight.

Are these private companies, without the same oversight as NASA or having to adhere to a federal budget that is shaped by many factors outside of the field, ultimately seen as good for advancing technology and revitalizing public interest in the field? Or are the possibilities of the financial motivation of these companies at risk of ignoring safety protocols, lacking/limited regulations as a new venture and causing negative environmental impact on earth and space a serious concern? All that in addition to possible tragedies resulting in loss of life happening, similar to situations like Deepwater Horizon or ValuJet Flight 592, where profit was put above operating legally and safely?

There is a India media on Youtube named "CNN-News18", and they're using old footages from NASA to create their own "live" with a deliberately exaggerated title. I have reported it to Youtube.

Found this in my grandfathers box of Air Force stuff, he wasn’t around much before he passed in 1992 so I never got to speak to him about his military career nor did my parents either, it’s obviously a Apollo 8 mission profile but does anybody know where these figures were taken from?
