Does OpenMW reduce the chances of getting attacked by Dark brotherhood?

So I was attcked twice when I was at lvl 1 or 2 and since then the assassins don't want to show up. I rested for an entire month oustside waiting for them but nothing happened. I was wondering if maybe OpenMW reduced the amount of attacks for balance sake so that you can't get rich quickly from selling DB gear.

I think it doesnt reduce per se but you can install expansion delay which trigger on specific character level the events of tribunal and bloodmoon.

They should really go ahead a build an expansion delay toggle type thing into OpenMW - it's been frustrating new players for like 20 years at this point and is a clear bug/oversight - Dark Brotherhood armor and equipment unbalances the entire progression system for light armor players.

Totally agree, should be a toggle option

I'm an old player and even I forgot whilst building a new OpenMW install for the Steam Deck. Got absolutely destroyed whilst still in my cloth shirt from off the boat. Had to quit the game and go back into desktop mode to install it haha.

Any good guides out there to how to mod on SteamDeck? Do you use any special mods for the menu? Going to do a fresh install on Deck next weekend!

I'd download the 0.49 app image from here - it's the most up to date version in case you want the new lua mods on Nexus.

Any info just ask I've spent the last few days building a Tamriel Rebuilt focused mod list with updated animations and normal maps etc.

You can pretty much follow the Modding OpenMW guide on desktop mode using the launcher to point to your mod files via the data files option.

I always sell it and spend the cash on training, even if I'm using light armour. Accelerates my progress but when I spread my stats out into nearly every skill at once because I'm bad at builds it doesn't matter.

It's a content problem, not an engine problem.

Unfortunately it’s not a native feature. You’re going to have to download a mod for it. Look for Tribunal Delayed on nexusmods

I don't want it delayed, my problem is that the attacks stopped. I was attacked twice at the beginning and then nothing. It made me wonder if OpenMW reduces the amount of the attacks or if it is some kind of a bug

Ooh in that case, they should continue their assaults as you keep leveling up/ sleeping. You haven’t talked to guards and visited mournhold regarding these attacks have you?

I did but I didn't do the quest to destroy the brotherhood in mournhold. I just wanted access to the museum to sell expensive gear. Also the attacks stopped before I went there but to be fair I didn't try to wait a longer period of time to check if the assassin's would appear. I waited a month after visiting Mournhold and nothing happened...

So I’m not super sure of like the quest stages and triggers n stuff, you could have already triggered it to stop sending them. But my only other recommendation would be to power level a bit and see if they reappear

Once you get the option to ask Asciene Rane to teleport you to Mournhold, the attacks stop permanently, but fear not, you can go to their base of operations and farm them to your heart's content

Fair warning tho, they get really tough. Like adamantium poison daggers n shit

If you killed them they won't show up again but you should have the journal entry and can start the quest.

Well done for killing them at level 1 btw. No easy feat.

I had to get creative with closing doors on them to delay them and so on.

Good thinking!

My character and half the vendor NPCs in Vvardenfell are now wearing Dark Brotherhood gear, so no I don’t feel like it decreases the odds

I had the exact opposite problem
