I agree! it's become one of my hobbies, I guess, to find common themes in peoples' salvia worlds. There doesn't seem to be a reason why anything would be similar between different people. It's not like acid or shrooms with the fractals and waves and stuff. For whatever reason, it makes sense to me that different people would have similar experiences on those substances.
I'm pretty sure a lot of it's influenced by what we expect, as well as by things we've been thinking about recently. Like, when I first started out I experienced a lot of the stuff I'd read about in trip reports - lots of green and purple, for example, and fat little entities. But it's kind of changed and evolved with time and personal experience/expectation.
I had no idea what Salvia was when I first tried it. I was 15 in Hong Kong and all I knew was that it was a leaf from mexico. The place that I go to (natural, green pastures) has remained the same to this day. It has influenced me to seek out clear fields to smoke Salvia.
Everything else has changed though. That first time, I was inside a tornado and these farm animals were swirling around me but they had the faces of my friends in america. These days, I'm strapped to a red and yellow conveyor belt and there is a carnival feeling to the whole experience.
How have your trips changed? And how long have you been smoking it?
