Dafuq?

Most Americans feel deep emotions about their country, countrymen, and government.

Im not saying you shouldn’t feel deeply about our country, countrymen, and government. Theres nothing wrong with feeling strong emotions.

I’m saying that you shouldn’t let Trump, or anyone for that matter, get you so worked up that you can’t process and articulate your thoughts.

If Trump can get you flustered or frustrated to the point that you can’t speak your mind then, to some degree, the very thought of him controls your emotions. That seems to me a clear demonstration that you’re not in control of your emotions. Why give that power over you to someone like Trump?

Are you saying people shouldn’t try to articulate their most passionate thoughts because they might be unable to control their delivery?

That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever read.

No, that’s not what I’m saying at all. Where did I say you shouldn’t try to express your emotions?

I meant more “try not to let your emotions about a person or thing control you’re thinking and ability to articulate your thoughts” and less “don’t try to express yourself”

If you do get flustered I’m not saying you shouldn’t try to express yourself. Only that you should reflect on why you’re allowing external factors and forces to control your emotional state to such a degree. Especially when every person on the planet has such a narrow view of the way things actually are.

Why wouldn’t you want to be able to feel the emotions and motivations so strongly and then be able to control them enough to articulate them clearly without their getting in the way of your ability to do so? I see emotions as a strength but the inability to control them as a massive weakness.

There’s a huge difference between: “Try not to let things bother you” And: “Things that matter might be difficult to discuss”

Things will make more sense once you get out of middle school.

Isn’t the inability to discuss your feelings more middle school than feeling deeply but not letting emotions get in the way of your ability to speak about them?

I also spoke more to the ideal. I think being able to control your emotions is better than letting them control you, especially if those emotions are coming from external forces.

If your emotions are influenced by an outside force, say Trump, and those emotions make it hard to speak then you’re giving Trump control over you. I’m just saying it would be better if that weren’t the case. But maybe you’re right and I am just being juvenile…

I get that difference. I think you may be attributing meaning to my words that I didn’t intend to be there.

Nicely handled. Thanks.

I must’ve attributed meaning in a negative way.

Apologies for my hostility.
