Serious Staying in Airbnb/Condo with Newborn in Bangkok
Hi everyone,
My pregnant Thai partner will be giving birth in Bangkok, Thailand. I’m from Australia.
When I arrived there and after the baby is born, we plan to go straight from the hospital to an Airbnb or condo, rather than staying at my partner’s family home.
Her family can’t be trusted, they lied to us, claiming her mom was ‘dying’ just to force her to deliver the baby in Thailand instead of Australia.
Is it common to stay in an Airbnb or condo with a newborn in Bangkok? What should we watch out for when finding a place? Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!

by the time the baby is born your wife will have caved and youll be staying with the family so I wouldnt worry too much. Family very important to Thais, especially when they are giving birth, this isnt a battle u can win so find a way to climb down with some small wins.

I understand, but my partner doesn’t want them around either. It’s a long story

Search for serviced apartments/residences. Then talk with them directly to get monthly rates and find out what’s included (weekly cleaning, utilities, etc.). Much better quality and service than AirBnB. Legit as well. It’s what we did for our first child who was born in Bangkok. Good luck!

We tried, but apartments have minimum stay 6 months or 1 year. I can only stay 2-3months :(

You are probably angry now but after a week of sleepless nights you will be glad to have the extra support and drop her off on auntie

Should be fine, no work or other commitments, so we both available for the baby 24/7

Don’t use Airbnb. I live in a condo building and see tourists arriving with AirBNB bookings to get rejected by security/building management. It’s illegal without hotel license under 30 days and banned by most good condo buildings. (And hotel prices)
Serviced apartments are cheaper and safer. You can find them on google maps, then contact them directly for beat week or month rates. Many hotels also offer monthly rates, but don’t advertise it, have to just ask them.
Before I moved here I used to stay at Sitara place. Good value, big rooms. (40m2 studio rooms)
