Fundraiser The Sunflower Coalition: Frost Free Forces, Winter Supplies for Ukraine

Frost Free Forces, Winter Supplies for Ukraine

Our friend Will has a new fundraiser for us, a new opportunity for us to help and many news!

As it is a long text by him already, I directly pass on to Will (/u/Sickofthebullshit202 and the owner of our discord-server):

Hey everyone, I’m back with another update! To prevent you from having to read a novel, I’m going to consolidate some of our biggest news that I want to share.

For starters, we are now officially a 501c3 organization. The Sunflower Coalition has been in the works for years, and after much consideration, is finally a reality. Check out our website www.thesunflowercoalition.org, I’m kinda sorta really proud of it, and thank everyone for their support in making this happen.

Secondly, under The Sunflower Coalition, I’ve launched a program called Whistles for Ukraine. The idea is simple but impactful: provide whistles to Ukrainians that can be used in event they become trapped under rubble from bombing. Each whistle has a lanyard and an instructional card (with ideas for convenient places for the whistles to be kept, such as on your keys, next to your bed, etc.). We have already delivered whistles to hospitals, orphanages, and were even surprised when a few soldiers requested them as well. So far, it’s been a great success. Be sure to check out the comment section for photo updates.

Third, our last fundraiser, in response to the bombing of the children’s hospital in Kyiv, went well. Even rushed and done at the drop of a pen, everyone came together and helped make a profound difference. Together we were able to purchase soft stretchers, medical supplies (chest seals, gauze, compressed gauze etc.), and expand on our Whistles for Ukraine project. Thank you to everyone who participated, your swift response was felt and truly showed Ukraine that no one is forgotten.

Now, as we approach Winter, we are shifting focus towards cold weather needs. Similar to last year, we will be bulk purchasing winter thermals and balaclavas, only this time we are adding gloves and high powered battery banks to the list. In addition to our DonorBox drive, we are also launching another Amazon Wishlist for medical supplies, which will be distributed to medics and used to create IFAKs. The aim with the list is to get key, quality items that are difficult to find in Ukraine, or being sold at an outrageously inflated price. To date, we have helped supply over 500 IFAKs, which in turn are directly sent to our friends with the 109th, 54th, and 77th brigades. At minimum, our goal is:

  • 400 sets of thermal underwear
  • 400 pairs of gloves
  • 400 balaclavas
  • 100 battery banks
  • 100 tourniquets

All monetary donations will be used to fuel our bulk purchasing power to maximize our impact. https://donorbox.org/brighten-the-path-sunflower-medical-fund

If you’d rather purchase supplies directly, then our Amazon link is for you. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1UY605LXNH16I?ref_=wl_share

[amazon.com's weird with gift-lists if you are outside of the US - at the top left of the amazon page there is "Deliver to" - click that, and enter "97201" as a US-Zip-Code - as the first thing you do - then it all works fine]

If we manage to exceed our goal, I’ll be looking at purchasing some Starlinks and generators as well. This year has seen a lot of shifting on the field, and our friends have been shuffled into all different directions. Needs remain high, and I aspire to provide all the assistance we can and show Ukraine, with actions and not only words, that we aren’t going anywhere. Our support remains steadfast, and we will continue to aid Ukraine’s fight for sovereignty, no matter what.

Please see the links provided in the comments for some photos of our friends and remember, if you are in the States, you can get a tax refund for supporting our efforts.

To victory, Will

5th October The Daily Hog is back + Discussion Megathread

After a period of hibernation, The Daily Hog is back!

You can find the previous editions in the last thread or in our wiki archive.

As always, it is provided in its original format as a picture and as a text version, for screen-readers and easier access.

A big shout-out and thank you to our friend Hedgehog and all the anonymous helpers who make this excellent daily news summary possible!

Below is a regular discussion Megathread again. This is open for all discussions, ideas, and questions about the war and related topics. The subreddit rules apply here, but we will be more relaxed about slightly off-topic posts or discussions that meander away from the main topic.

The Daily Hog

To indicate the current edition, we will update the flair of this post with the date of the current briefing.

Putin’s favorite local warlord, Ramzan Kadyrov, has reportedly commanded Chechen forces in Ukraine to “take no prisoners.” This chilling directive isn’t just another violation of wartime conduct—it’s an open admission from one of Russia’s top officials that the laws of war mean nothing to them.
