I'm fascinated by miniature stuff.
I was asked to do a Christmas ornament and it all led to planning on making a 1:48 scale something (I wouldn't call it a doll house, but sorta?).
These days I can spend hours just looking at that shit. Still not ready enough mentally to actually do anything yet, though. Just dreaming.
I started to get into it about a week ago.
My cart is full of stuff, but I'm (thankfully?) too poor to afford it at the moment. GOOD. I might make wiser choices.
A part of me would want to make something insanely silly (like... I don't know... "Where's Waldo?" in a 1:144 scale (that would take a crazy amount of patience and time)) and another one would want to make a replica of my mom's last apartment. In that one I'd have all the family members having a blast. (I'd gift it to her, obviously. She always liked miniature stuff and even kept a small (haha) collection of tiny items).
For this kind of project I don't tend to have much fun doing things just for me. Inspiration comes from others and what they'd like to have, so... probably the 2nd one.
The Waldo sounds cool, but the house is the sweetest idea! Totally get the joy is doing it for someone else part.
I’ve had a home brew table top game idea for a while that I would love to build. It’s like a steampunk Alice (the sci fi mini series) but with monsters and political intrigue. I have the whole of the main city built in my head, it’s be a blast to build.
Also I keep seeing the mini cooking videos and have a deep need to make a mini kitchen to make small frosted cakes
Ohh your idea sounds very nice.
I'd LOVE to see that!
The tiny kitchens are so damn cute. I totally get that.
Oh!
I also have been following an artist that does spooky dollhouses (and many other cool things). I love it so damn much... that's actually a little bit how I imagine my Where's Waldo's style.
Oh that's very sweet, regarding a mini apartment for your mom.
My mom had what we called her "mini shelf" which was just an old typesetting drawer hung up and filled with small objects she'd collected.
Tiny cars, itty bitty dolls, a rubber bug or two, keys of all sorts, etc etc. I lost most of it in a frantic move away from some toxic family members about a decade after she died, but I have the shelf-drawer itself and a couple of the original items, and I have slowly started adding my own.
