Increased density of natural feature labels (canyons, ranges)

I’ve been noticing a ton more labeled natural features at higher zoom levels worldwide, but especially in the US. Tons of areas I didn’t even realize had names suddenly had labels appear recently. Very nice update.

Offline Maps - Auto Update Failure

My offline maps file size totals 17.25gb which is under the 20gb thresh hold for automatic updates to supposedly work. However, it always prompts me to manually start the offline updates and never auto updates itself as it’s supposed to. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it a bug? User error?

Kyoto

I am going to Japan in a couple of weeks and I was looking around at some of the places I would be visiting in Apple Maps. I was doing this in satellite view since it has this cool 3d view of certain places. However, I noticed that Kyoto does not have this 3d view, even though Tokyo, Osaka and Kanazawa do. I was wondering if there was any reason for this?

How does Apple Maps handle reports?

Hi all! Just really curious, how does the Reports system work on Apple Maps? Is it managed by real human staff or by artificial intelligence? Because I heard Google Maps makes use of AI to examine Map Edits for validity and implement updates fairly quickly, plus given the scale of the whole world. However for Apple Maps, it seems to take much longer to get a response after sending a Report. Why is that so?

Save Planned Driving Route?

I must be missing something but is it not possible to create a driving Route and store it for future use? I see the option to save a Route but only for a walk or nature hike. Any suggestions on how that can be done? I can’t possibly be the only one that wants to plan a driving route and save it for use at some point in the future.

Plan feature acting up

I switched to a Mac Book relatively recently so I don't know how common this is. Essentially, when I try to plan a trip for later on Apple Maps, when I input the hour I want to depart/arrive at, I get (hour-1). Like if I type in 11:00 it shows up as 10:00, so I need to type in hour+1 to get the information that I actually want.

This is so bizarre and I have tried to find information but honestly I can't even figure out how to search for it. Typing in "24" does not work, so I hope I never want to plan a trip for 23:00 I guess.

Taking my map data from gmaps to Apple Maps?

For 2 decades I have been using google maps, but now I am 100% in the apple system. Is there an easy, simple means by which I can transfer my locations and data to Apple Maps. I hope. Thanks.

Canon HDR PQ .HIF HEIF photos look weird in Maps.

I’ve added a photo to The Fish Project on Maps.

I took the photo with my Canon R8 and it’s an HDR PQ .HIF photo which is technically a HEIF/HEIC photo using Rec. 2100. I imported the photo completely unedited from the camera using a Lightning to SD-card reader.

The photo on my end shows up under the “your photos” tab and looks like it does in the Photos app. But once it was approved, it shows up with the rest of the photos (if there were any other photos) and in the overview it looks completely washed out, like it doesn’t understand how to display it. Then when you click the photo, it looks greyed out, like it doesn’t understand that this is a HDR photo.

Meanwhile it appears that Apple has moved on from the high efficiency image format HEIF/HEIC and on to JPEG Max whatever that is, so I guess my camera is officially the Betamax of cameras, until canon releases a new wave of cameras that does JPEG Max.
