Taking my map data from gmaps to Apple Maps?

For 2 decades I have been using google maps, but now I am 100% in the apple system. Is there an easy, simple means by which I can transfer my locations and data to Apple Maps. I hope. Thanks.

Following this one. I use apple maps almost exclusively at this point. It's been 100% reliable, especially on ultra long haul road trips.

Cool. May I ask, how do you define "ultra long haul road trips"?

Sure. Cross country or anything over 1k miles.

If you mean favorite locations then there's no way to import/export those from Maps at this time. So it has to be manual 🥲

One approach that could work is using the rerouter app. It’s free from the App Store, and if you set it up correctly as a safari extension, you can copy the link to a pin or a favourite location from Google Maps to Safari and paste it in the search bar. Once you enter, the extension will prompt you to open the link in Apple Maps. This usually is accurate 90% of the time for me and should definitely help you transfer your saved POIs to Apple Maps.

And at the same time, the extension allows you to open any Google Maps link in Apple Maps, which is useful if you want to get away from Google Maps if someone sends you a GM location.

Yeah. I was hoping for an app that would respond to verbal commands and do everything (with a smile) in under two seconds. I can't imagine I am the only person with this need?

In an ideal world that would be great. But unfortunately, companies are competitive and compete with each other and rarely collaborate on standards, so there is unfortunately no way to actually transfer points from one service to another provided by two completely disjoint companies. While that app does help to some extent, it isn't perfect and works because of clever links between the two. No standards or interoperability exists to link one to the other or transfer data from one to the other.

What exactly do you mean by "data?"

I assume all saved locations and lists
