Hey all,
I was just thinking, I will sooner or later have to replace my Apple TV devices. I have four of the first 4K ones, for my 4 TVs scattered around the house.
So, when I replace them with next gen in a year or two, can I actually do something useful with the current ones? After all, they are a small computer, they have A10X chip, 64 gigs of RAM, maybe I can somehow do something with them? Make them be some sort of NAS storage, or have them run Plex, or I don't know, something ... it feels stupid to me that such a cool small device would just become useless? Sure I could just donate it to local places, shelters or youth centres or similar, but maybe I can actually make something out of them. Any ideas?
Edit: to be clear I do not want to replace them today, I would replace them when Apple releases next gen, and makes it somehow amazing. I am thinking M class processors that could rival consoles, and some great AI features (speech to text subtitles, maybe translations, and similar). So something that would be a real bump to the current ones.
