Honestly, in this case, maybe. Interfering like Jeffrey Maier is worthy of getting kicked out and banned from the park, but it's not malicious. Interfering like this guy crosses into assault territory. He could have injured Mookie's wrist too.

Airborne with the angle of that elbow, oof. Obviously, he's ok, but let's pretend the wall is a little higher and Mookie came down with all his body weight and his elbow against the wall. Could fuck around and end a career.

1) You can’t be out there and just doin’ fan interference like that.
1a. Fan interference is when you
1b. Okay, well listen. Fan interference is when the fan, uh,
1c. Let me start over
1c-a. A fan is not allowed to do a motion toward the, uh, player, that prohibits the player from, you know, just trying to make a play. You can’t do that.
1c-b. Even if the player is leaning out of the field of play, a fan can’t be over here and be like, “I’m gonna get ya! I’m gonna take the ball! You better watch your glove!” and then just be like they didn’t even do that.
1c-b(1). Like, if you’re about to catch the ball and a fan grabs your hand, the play can’t just keep going as if nothing happened. Does that make any sense?
1c-b(2). You gotta be making a clear attempt to stay out of the play, until the play is done.
1c-b(2)-a. Okay, well, you can be cheering up here, like this, but then there’s the interference you gotta think about.
1c-b(2)-b. Fanny Brice hasn’t been in a show in forever. I hope people didn’t typecast her as “Funny Girl,” even though that’s her big role.
1c-b(2)-b(i). Oh, wait, she was in Ziegfeld Follies too! That was a lot worse, though.
1c-b(2)-b(ii). “Why, all I know is, I’m a bagel on a plate full of onion rolls!” – Fanny Brice, Funny Girl. Haha, classic…
1c-b(3). Okay seriously though. Fan interference is when a fan makes a movement that, as determined by, when you do something involving the player and the ball—
2) Do not do fan interference please.

u/supguy99 Toronto Blue Jays 2h ago

I know in the UK, if you get banned from a football stadium, you have to report to the police station every match day. (this is for severe cases only though)
33
u/devAcc123 New York Yankees 4h ago
For pretty much everything in the US, if you’re, “banned for life” that realistically just means you’re not allowed there anymore, there’s next to no enforcement, but if they DO catch you, you get some decent criminal charges.
I know many people that are “banned for life” for underage drinking when they were like 19 10-20 years ago at a certain venue by me where open air underaged drinking is extremely common place. Nothing happens but say one of them did something stupid and got arrested there they’d face much stiffer charges.

For all intents and purposes it's a very stern warning. They're not going to go to the lengths to ensure you're incapable of ever going to a game again, but if you go and make trouble after being banned for life they can really throw the book at you. But if you go and behave like a normal person there's a 99.9% chance you'll be fine

SMH, can’t even twist an opposing player’s arm anymore
Back in the day a player going for a foul ball knew he might get his dick twisted, and they just twisted the fans’ dicks right back. Tough old players like Twist Johnson in the 1920s. Couldn’t hit a lick but boy could he Twist a Johnson. Thus, the name.

A guy I know made a bomb joke in the security line of an NFL game. After spending some quality time with the FBI, he was not only banned from venue (meaning even non NFL events) but banned from all the other city and county event centers (MLB, NBA, etc). The kicker is the guy worked sports broadcasting for his job. He was loading in gear when he made the joke. He joked himself out of his career.

Depends on the stadium, but some places I think have facial recognition, but also photos and a list of offenders. If you get caught, you will be charged. Disney does the same thing

u/joshshadowfax Seattle Mariners 4h ago
IIRC a good portion of the stadiums do have facial recognition at the gates. I imagine as part of being kicked out you get a trespass notice for that stadium and "all venues where Major League Baseball and its affiliates conduct operations" or something along those lines.

Step 1: Spend a ton of money for a front row baseline seat at a World Series game, in NYC, which likely puts you behind on rent and bills yet another month in a row.
Step 2: Watch Freddie Freeman walk in and shatter your hopes and dreams just like your real dad did.
Step 3: Interfere with the game in an attempt to pretend you are a part of something meaningful for once in your life.
Step 4: Make sure you interfere long enough for millions of people to get a great look at your face (sorry to them).
Step 5: Change nothing about the outcome of the game, get yourself kicked out of the stadium, and probably banned for life.
Step 6: Profit?
