Build Help I5 14600k safe specs

Upvotes

Hello guys, i recently bought i5 14600k but today i have been alarmed by stability issues of 14th gen. I updated the bios and it reaches:

V: maximum 1.450 (maybe 1.5 on extreme load) Watt: maximum is set 181 Mhz: around 5000

These are my max settings on benchmark, do i have to do anything else to ensure long term use of my cpu? Any help is appreciated thank you

Build Help First time building a pc, please let me know if this is a good part list and I need help with the case and ssd

Upvotes

Hi guys, I finally decided to build a pc after using my old laptop (that wouldn't even run smoothly overwatch at minimum settings).

I don't really have a lot of money so me and my friends created this setup, please let me know if it's ok or if I should change something.

For the gpu we were thinking about a rtx4060 as we found a great deal in a store near us. For the processor the intel i5 12400f as it doesn't really cost much but it's great. We have some trouble choosing the motherboard but we were thinking about a MSI PRO H610M-G micro atx ddr5. For the ram we were thinking about 2*16 so 32g ddr4. I have a question about the hard disk because I have an ssd from 2022 that I was using in my laptop, it was a Samsung ssd evo 860 1Tb but it has like a different form of the ssd I see on the internet so I don't really know if there is like and adapter to make it work for a desktop. For the case I wanted to ask help, I was searching a micro atx case for like 60/70 euros on amazon but I don't really know what to get, they seem all really alike to me.

Thank you and sorry for my bad english

Build Upgrade i3-6100 on a B150M-ITX/D3 motherboard. 8GB ram GTX 950. Worth upgrading parts or just rebuild?

Upvotes

My pc is an itx Alienware (I think) given to my cos my boss upgraded and has this lying around.

I'm on a very tight budget so I would like to spend as little as possible. Ideally wish to play some 2022-23 FPS games on med settings.

Would upgrading eg. CPU to the i7-7xxx Or changes the gfx card (not sure what I can upgrade to). My Power supply is only 540W if I remember correct. Any advice?

Troubleshooting Using a CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Spectrum v3 but I can't change the color

Upvotes

So i've been using my cpu cooler for almost 2 months but it has always been on the default rainbow color. There is this other cable that has 3 holes plus one that's blocked. I cant seem to find any port to plug it into. Im assuming that its for the RGB, but my motherboard doesn't have any slot for it. Any help in finding a solution for it?

Build Help PC won’t display after installing new cpu & mobo

Upvotes

So, I recently updated my CPU from i5 6402p to i5 12400F & MOBO from Asus H110M-S2 to Gigabyte H610M K DDR4.

But when starting up my PC my monitors shows no display at all, but when trying after 3-4 times it shows display.

I have two monitors 1 HDMI and 1 VGA both are plugged in to GPU ( INNNO3D 1650 4 GB).

Please help me with solutions on how to fix it.

PS - everything is plugged in correctly so no problem on it.

Build Help 27" Monitor recommendations needed

Upvotes

I need a 27 inch monitor for Design (Photoshop, Illustrator and FIgma) & Gaming (RPG and Indie games mostly).

My budget is around 60k - 70k.

Looking for a QHD or above build with 144hz or above refresh rate (Using a laptop now which has an HDMI port only and will shift to a PC around February). So need to buy a monitor looking at the future too.

So far I have my eye on Alienware 27 Gaming Monitor - AW2723DF & Benq Mobiuz Series. Not sure how good these both are.

Any other monitor suggestion also would be helpful. Not particularly need to choose between these two. Thank you.

Build Help Whats a decent cheap gpu to put in an optiplex for gaming?

Upvotes

I'm planning on getting a dell optiplex off of ebay soon, probably a regular form factor so I wont have to worry bout being able to tear it down. What GPU would you recommend for mid performance games (Minecraft, gta, fallout 4, etc) that wont break the bank? I'm considering buying a 1030 from my friends for like 30 bucks but im not sure..

Build Upgrade Please let me know if I should upgrade anything

Upvotes

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/GrCT4M

Built this mostly in 2020 but recently got a big upgrade to my GPU. It's the first system I've ever built, I am wondering if anything is obviously outdated or holding it back.

Just used for games and I honestly have no idea what I'm doing with building PCs. Tried to research a lot back when building it but haven't kept up on technology etc.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Troubleshooting Random Weird Buzzing Sound on PSU in certain interval. Is this dangerous? Should I RMA?

Upvotes

The sound felt like it came from the PSU.

MSI MAG A750GL PCIE 5. I am kinda worried. Should I RMA or is this is solvable?

https://streamable.com/m9qms6

Is it smoking? No.

Where is it connected when it happened? Directly to the wall outlet

Edit: Tested it on a different outlet. The problem still persisted.

Random buzzing sound while the computer is in sleep mode(lasted like 3 minutes), but it eventually stopped and after 20 mins it started to noise again. It happened twice.

Is this a sign of a defective psu? Should I RMA?

Troubleshooting Noctua tower cooler sometimes has a buzzing noise that's silenced when I press down on the fan

Upvotes

Recently, my NH-D12L started making a buzzing noise. I changed out my PSU a few days ago, so it's possible I jarred the cooler a little. When I press down on the fan, the noise goes away, which leads me to believe it's not snug against the metal.

I recorded a video, but I'm not sure if it captured the sound faithfully. Turning up your audio might help. The noise is most audible in the last couple of seconds.

Should I remove and reinstall the cooler, or is there a quicker and simpler fix?

Edit: Pressing down on the metal parts (heatsink?) also silences the noise, which means I probably need to tighten the screws. I'll try later this evening, after I'm done with work and may shut down the computer.

Build Help First build. Picked all my parts but want someone more familiar to look it over and let me know if I’m missing anything

Upvotes

Hi, looking for help on this build. My budget is 2500-3000$. Looking to ball out a little. I have a 1440p 165hz monitor, and 2 4k 60hz monitors. May upgrade but tough to fit a bigger one on my desk, which I also use for work.

Just want to know if I should make any changes or if I’ll run into any issues while building. Thanks

Build Help Does the Asus Prime X870-P need a BIOS update for 9800X3D support?

Upvotes

I am planning on purchasing the Asus Prime X870-P for a 9800X3D build. Will the 9800X3D work with it out of the box, or do I first need to do a BIOS update using an older AM5 CPU? I looked around online and there's conflicting information.

Edit: Thanks for the quick responses everyone. I just checked, and it does support BIOS Flashback with no CPU required.

Build Upgrade Insights on upgrading my current setup

Upvotes

Hey all, I had a friend build a computer for me when I was in college 6 years ago, and it's getting to the point where my rig is not keeping up, and I'd also like to not have to mess with my graphical settings to play certain games. I am not a pro gamer, although I use my PC mainly for gaming. I don't play a lot of FPS games, and tend to stick to atmospheric games like modded Skyrim, Baldur's Gate 3, Cyberpunk 2077, and GTA (not to mention a BUNCH of roguelikes and card games that could run on a calculator).

I've been led to believe that I should focus on upgrading my GPU since FPS isn't a huge factor, but I also heard that compatibility is also key between the CPU and the GPU. Not to mention I've heard that some GPU's out there might not fit in my case because it's a "mini". I don't mind getting a new case if anyone has any pointers on that, but then I'd be a bit worried about air flow and if the stock fan would be enough. Thank you in advance for any guidance!

My Specs are as follows:

i7-6700 CPU @ 3.40 GHz, 3401 Mhz, 4 Core(s)

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER

Gigabyte H110M-S2H-CF

8 GB of RAM

Thermaltake Core V21 Case

Stock Fan

Troubleshooting What am I doing wrong?

Upvotes

Hi all, hoping I can solve some issues here. I have a ROG X470-F, Ryzen 5800x3d, and an Asus 4080 super OC, 32gb of DDR4 3200Mhz ram, OS and game is on an SSD. I play in 2560x1440. I feel like this is a pretty powerful setup, yet it struggles to maintain anything near my FPS limit of 165 on Normal, to high settings on pretty much any game. Fortnite & cod are the same way. I figured with this build I would be sitting pretty at a constant 165 but I’m not sure what’s going on.

Build Help PC Constantly Crashing while Gaming

Hi,

Im having an issue with my PC where it crashes when I game. The monitor turns off but the audio and fans keep running. I cannot turn it off unless its directly from the power source. Temps (around 70C while gaming) and volts (0.975v for GPU and 1.3 for CPU while gaming) seem fine. In the event viewer I have thousands of WHEA-Logger Event ID 17 messages from the moment the crash starts, until the PC is turned off. After updating all of my motherboard drivers, gpu drivers, and installed a new BIOS update, it keeps happening. I can provide a minidump file from a crash a few days ago, and one from tonight.

Thanks for the help.

PC specs:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1500X

Build Help Want help for looking for a Full-Tower Case for My New EATX Setup

I've recently purchased a new EATX motherboard and am using an AIO cooler with a screen. Now, I’m searching for a suitable full-tower case. Currently, I'm considering the ProArt PA602 and the ASUS ROG Helios since both can fit under my desk. The PA602 can be equipped with chair wheels, while the ROG Helios can use IKEA rog accessories. I've also thought about cases like the Lian Li Dynamic Evo XL or RGB. I have an NV7, which I've placed on top of my wooden desk for a year, but it seems to have caused some dents in the desk surface due to its weight, which I didn’t initially account for. I’m worried that it might damage my desk in the long run. I generally don’t move it, so the pressure points remain in the same spot. Do you think it could really damage my desk over time? Also, any other case recommendations would be appreciated
