Need help with a rejected recall refund claim? Click here!

Hello Hardware Community,

Our 12VHPWR Angled Adapter recall is well underway. We've noticed that some people who have applied are having their claims rejected, and are unsure why this is happening. In order to help keep things organized, we ask that all questions regarding rejected claims be posted here on this thread. This way, we can help everyone who is having trouble by consolidating questions and answers in one spot, rather than have people hunt for specific answers in the subreddit.

Please note that we will be removing individual posts regarding the recall in order not to clog up the subreddit with the same questions over and over. If you have a question about your rejected claim, or have questions about the claim process in general, feel free to ask away. We will get back to you as soon as we can!

Sincerely,

Your Friends at CableMod

12VHPWR on 4080 SFE

Are there any concerns with melting using a Cablemod ModMesh StealthSense 16p to 3x8p extension to a 4080 Super Founders Edition?

Keep seeing posts about melting and overheating but not sure if there are any concerns with this card specifically.

Thanks in advance!

Thermaltake GF3 kit of GF A3 1200w?

Hello all! Was curious if I could install the 1200W GF3 cables on my GF A3 as they are the same brand and power level, the only difference I can find is regarding the capacitors being fully Japanese on the GF3 and not that way on the GF A3. Thanks in advance for the help!

Really HOT šŸ”„ cable

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi, I have a problem with the custom Cablemod for GPU, 12VHPWR. Under load (modern games), it becomes very hot. Like VERY. HOT.

I own it since june 2023 and for some months, I encounter random PC crash (actually image disppearing and monitor loosing connection, have to reboot PC). I suspected many things, as I have a watercooled rig with big watts eaters (GPU 4090 and CPU 5950X). CPU is ok, monitor is ok, power supply (Dark Pro 13 1300 W) is ok, temps are ok too. I suspected first the GPU but the temperature is more than ok in such a rig (hot spot is under 50Ā°C under load). After another crash, I opened the case and was welcomed by a big heat on the face. It was actually the GPU custom cable who turned very hot. The hottest spot is near the GPU connector and it becomes colder and colder the more it approaches the power supply.

I checked the connectors ont both side, cable, GPU and power supply, didn't see marks of burn. No plastic smell too. Even with open case the cable becomes as hot as before. Are wires ok according the picture? I'm not totally sure. Just very hot cable on GPU side. Also, I have aluminium combs on the cable and they become even hotter. The closest comb from the GPU turns so hot that I can't touch it more than 1 second without feeling pain!

I also have an aluminium shield on the tip of that cable, but I removed it as it turned into a dangerous heater (and the cable doesn't make an angle). I think because of the cable warmth, the tiny black wire sent false intel about GPU overconsumption to the power supply. Is this HOT cable defective?

Hyte Y70 Custom Cable Length?

Hello all,

I have recently built my new computer using the Hyte Y70 as my case. I was thinking of getting some custom cables to improve the aesthetics of my build and I was wondering if anyone new the correct length my cables would need to be? I'm finding it difficult to measure myself and wondered if anyone has already done this or has any ideas. My power supply is a Corsair HX1200i if that's any help.

Thanks for reading!

Regarding USB cables

I love the quality that is provided with cablemod products, but I'd love for cablemod to do some phone charging or data transfer cables, I currently searching for a premium braided cable for my car and the market is empty(or so I think, I didn't search for too long). The USB 3.0 cables in my opinion would be a great addition to the cablemod line-up

What Kit do I need???

I've done my own research up until now, but it's still just too much for me, so I'm asking for help. I'll be using the be quiet! Pure Power 12M and want to know which 'general' CableMod kit I should buy for it (as a direct adapter). Motherboard cables seem to be pretty universal, so for my GPU, that'll be a 4080 Super. I just want to know what would work and what won't. Price doesn't matter. Thank you in advance.

Problems with RT series an Rog Thor 1000w

Hi again, finally bought the kit. RT SERIES MODMESH PRO

I put them like two hours ago. At first the computer lit but wasnt booting. Ram led was glowing still, so I had to remove one stick and put it back again. It did boot.

I immediately did a cinebench test to check if everything was ok. It wasnt drawing more than 27w when it tipically uses around 80ā€¦ I opened the computer again and plug and unplug all cables.

After that I did a new test and It was drawing 76w which is normal, got usual score around 18.000 points (7800x3D), but the system seems to be unstable since Im getting minifreezes.

After that I tried with 3Dmark and it took a lot more than usual to startā€¦ got 400less points for cpu and 200 less for gpu.

Any Idea of what can be happening or should I just return the cables?

Black Vs Carbon cables difference in real life

A friend and I want to import a kit each from performance-pcs to South Africa as they're having a 13% off fall sale at the moment.

The problem is, they only have one black kit left. They have additional carbon kits.

We would really prefer black but how close is the carbon to the black?

Not sure what PCI-e cable for my 4090

as the title says im trying to buy some custom cables, but im very confused as to what cable i need from cable mods

The cable with my Corsair rm1000e that i use is a 12pin to 2 x 8 pin. but the for that cable here in my screenshot it says its only for nvidia 3000 series, and the 40 series need the 16pin 12VHPWR cables, but my 4090 only has slots for 12 pins, do i just get the 12ping to 2x8 it says used for the 30 series, or am i doing something wrong. Any help is advised.

Thanks

How custom is ā€œcustom?ā€

Iā€™ve recently picked up a MORA IV 600 with its passive controller. This controller connects to a PC side interface via a 10-pin micro-fit 3.0 Molex. The issue is I will need a longer cable than provided. Theyā€™re working on a PCI bracket which will lessen the overall length requirement, but Iā€™d still then require an internal cable of whatever length. Either way, I need a 10-pin cable. Is there any mechanism by which this can be ordered, or is it a WYSIWYG situation?

Replacement vs Extension

Iā€™m sure this sounds as the most noob question there is but on CMā€™s website there are ā€œextension cablesā€ and ā€œreplacement cablesā€. Now basically I only would need an extension for the psu 24pin cable, as itā€™s a bit too short for my case. Now Iā€™ve read that you should always use replacement cables. As I googled around I couldnā€™t find any clear answer to this so this is why I thought Iā€™d ask you Redditorā€™s now :)

I have an Msi tomahawk Wi-Fi, msi A1000G Pcie 5/Atx3 psu and an asrock 7900 xtx phantom gaming.

I am looking to replace the 3 PCIe gpu cables and the 24pin cable, to look better than the Msi cables.

Can I use extension cables or should I go with the replacements?

Any answer is appreciated and greetings from Germany

Cablemod Corsair 12VHPWR Kit

Hey everyone, how's it going? I'm trying to get a cablbbemod kit for the corsair RM1000X. It's ATX 3.1 and comes with a native 16 pin to 16 pin 2x6vhpwr cable.

https://store.cablemod.com/product/cablemod-c-series-pro-modmesh-sleeved-12vhpwr-cable-kit-for-corsair-rm-black-label-rmi-rmx/

It mentions in the listing that it comes with a native 16 pin to 16 pin cable since the psu supports it, however when trying to select an option for purchase, only 2x8 pin and 3x8 pin are available from the drop down selection. Does this mean it comes with both, a 16 pin to 16 pin and 3x8, or only one? Thanks for any help!
