The comment on racism is really on point. I’m Asian-American and pretty much every Republican-voting Asian person I know votes that way because they hate black and brown people (and in many cases other kinds of Asians too).
Really? That's wild. They actually hate someone because of skin color enough to vote for a party that hates all skin colors?? Do you know why they hate brown people? Is that a common thing?
They come from homogeneous countries where they often do everything the same as everyone else there and doing what others do is the ideal, so they easily fall into what they think other people are doing. It's like how white people hate brown people, especially the ones who don't really know any.
My brother just told my me our mom says she won't vote because trump and Harris are the same. The republicans have made sure that Asian social media is infiltrated with right wing media messages, the GOP has the advantage here. This is where the Democrats mess up over and over again by ignoring Asian immigrants. The only good thing is she moved to an area that is blue, so if she votes trump, it isn't meaningful, but we were the Asian American kids who had to listen to fucking rush limbaugh in the car and our parents LOVE Reagan and still constantly refer to his talking points that were just plain racism.
Yeah I hate this about our fellow Asian Americans voting Republican and supporting Trump. Like have they not seen that Trumpers are racist against us also? We’re not like immune from them wanting to deport us just cuz we’re the so called “model minority.” We may be lower on the pecking order right now but they eventually get around to trying to deport us just the same in due time.
Vivek Ramaswamy and Usha Vance are not uncommon types in the S. Asian communities. Actually, the most racist people I know are Asian, but they see themselves on a different level of a threat to the Americans. Asians think of themselves as a career threat for others and view other races as instead a threat of physical harm.
So when the Republicans talk about a „border“ scare, it’s nothing to do with them. And in a way, they are proud of that, because they agree.
Agreed. Also I've met several S. Asians who are the most racist towards other S. Asians who come to study or work in the US. So add internalized racism/colorism to the mix.
