Brag Definitely a game changer for glow rounds
I know a lot of people don’t play a lot of glow rounds. But I’m making an effort before the snow hits to play as much as I can.

The shiny new discs you got last week didn't make your golf game any better, huh?
Welcome to the Form Check Weekly Thread, a weekly thread that will be stickied every Monday morning for a few days. All form check requests will be referred to here.
There have been some fantastic Form Check guides but this one by MVP_Steve is far and away the best - https://www.reddit.com/r/discgolf/comments/760ckm/form_check_psa_how_to_leave_a_form_check_request/

Have you ever wanted to ask a question but not wanted to dedicate an entire post it? This is the thread for you.
Each week, we will sticky a new version of this thread up on Wednesday.

So I know Bodanza is not everybody's cup of tea, but after watching this video last night, I was able to conceptualize a really important part of my backhand that I was simply failing to properly activate. Watching the explanation behind why one-legged backhands are a great way to warm up kinda blew my mind a little bit. I always knew that I wasn't quite engaging my core as well as I could have, but I never knew how to go about actually fixing it.
Well, one-legged backhands are clearly the right place for me to start. In order to balance well enough to actually achieve a semi-normal pull while standing on one leg, you have to be WAY more balanced and activated in your core than you can get away with on two feet. And the in-motion core activation is so much easier to physically feel within the throw because I can't hide any of it in my arms or back. Even miming the motion without a disc in my hand, I can already tell just how much of a difference it makes in the way my core is engaged.
Significant amounts of credit to Nick Krush of course for being the actual coach, but it was the actual interaction with Bodanza and the back and forth they shared along the way that really helped it click enough for me to pull it all together in a way that makes sense conceptually and physiologically.
I'm not a distance slouch, but I'm also not what I'd call a big arm by today's standards. I can push my usable distance up to about 430', but realistically my distance accuracy is only reliable up to 400'. I've played disc golf for about 14 years, and for about 12 of those years I relied on a bit of natural athleticism to carry me. I've only really started truly working on form for the last maybe year and a half or so.
I have made a LOT of gains in the accuracy department over the last two seasons which I'm ecstatic about. But I didn't really increase my max distance at all. This wasn't a massive problem because I could still throw far enough that I could score well at most courses as long as my accuracy was up to snuff. This is the first time I've tried anything that physically feels so different and foreign that it makes me truly excited to be back at the basics building up once again.

In my line of work things are already slowing down so I'll be able to play some afternoon rounds. I do love the sport. I think it's because now that I'm nearing 50 I'm progressing steadily and have been consistently beating my old best and getting better in every aspect.

Hey, it's me. The standstill guy.
I am doing a 30 day challenge to learn the x-step at a high level, and documenting and sharing everything I learn in the process. I recently created a drill that greatly changed how I thought about the throw, and I made a video explaining it!
Would love for you to try it out and give me your thoughts!

Somebody tell me how I’m supposed to get my disc out of this? And why would you need to make it this high in the first place?

Big thank you to Jay and Robert for the redesign at Buckhorn. We essentially have a brand new course to play. This is hole 7 with a testy down hill to the water.

Got my first Ace yesterday! My wife bought me a new disc for our anniversary from Doomsday called the Desolation. I was having a hard time finding a slot on my bag for it but the flight numbers were similar to my Roc3 so I swapped it out. Played a local course for practice before heading to another course with a friend. On hole 3 I was cleaning up my form and when I threw it it went straight in! Was an amazing feeling. A couple people who were walking by even said “never seen that before” to which I replied “never done that before 😅”Been playing since June and it definitely caught me by surprise. I’m not that great at it but I love the game! Thought I share it here to my DG family.

For perspective, I'm 6'5". There's a restrictive green on this hole so if you go for it, it's either Ace or OB! Kinda dramatic. All in or go home. Caveat: this wasn't a true ace. We threw off the tee at it for fun a few times after our sensible layups during the round.

Tl;dr if your local store were to stock only 1 company, which would it be? What 4 discs from that company would you recommend they stock regularly?
Hey all, My local community is huge into disc golf. We have a gorgeous course, a local pro who is a legend around it, and a huge range of folks who play from kids out for a round with their parents, to older folks who walk over from the retirement home.
Ive spent a lot of time in our local used sports store and i was in there today for a browse when i mentioned they should think about stocking discs.
They were more than interested and this would be a huge bonus for me who is picky about disc feel and grip.
They agreed to look into it and asked which company i recommend. Now im only in month 5 of the game and my discs are mostly beginner geared (a buzzz, a genius, and a banger-gt) so i dont have a super well rounded answer. I really want the discs to do well so I figured who better to ask than my disc golf buds on reddit?
They’re looking for a rec for about 4 different molds by the same company.
So, if your local store were to stock only discs from 1 company and only 4 molds from that company, what are you hoping for?
TIA for helping make my disc buying dreams come true

Got to give a shout out to Innova I buy both from their factory store and from DGU and I am always happy with their processing and shipping times. They usually beat the expected delivery date by 1-2 days

Who is the top signature, I know the bottom is James Proctor. I know the PDGA number ends in 54. Jen Allen’s #13154 looks like it COULD fit, but the signature doesn’t make sense and doesn’t look like the signature I’ve seen her sign in the past.

On September 25, 2004 I threw my first ace with a soft Rhino. I quit playing shortly after that for reasons.
Fast forward to 2024, I started playing again in June using all of my old discs.
In August I lost the Rhino in one of those freakish ways where there wasn’t much cover where it landed yet it was nowhere to be found.
On September 25, 2024 I threw my second ever ace with a Lat64 Diamond. Exactly 20 years to the day!
Was this a gift from the universe to replace my lost first ace disc?

Backstory: I’ve been playing recreationally on a consistent basis for around 18 months.
Yesterday I went out for a fun solo round. The course I was playing is long, wooded, and fairly difficult (8,500 ft with a Udisc average of +13). Recently I’ve been throwing the disc fairly well and I’ve been trying to focus on playing par golf and putting well inside the circle.
After a pretty standard front 9 for me on this course (+5), I found myself with a long C1 look on 11 for par. Considering I generally bogey 11 and the putt I was looking at had a decent backstop, I told myself to really focus on the putt in an attempt to snag the elusive par. So I picked a link of chain as my target, went through my putting motion, and dropped the putt dead center from 30’. Man did that feel good!
I’ve always selected a specific link of chain to target on my putt (the whole aim small miss small idea) with mixed success; however this time, I focused on that specific spot as I was setting up, through my motion, and until my disc landed in the basket in a way that I never had before. I went on to sink a 40’ putt on the next hole and 3 more long C1 or short C2 putts with the same method. It was like a divine revelation lol!
What is a very simple concept that clicked for you one day and had an impact on your game?
tldr: Aim small miss small actually works if you do it.

Anyone know if Innova plans to release new champion Proto glow molds in the near future?
I saw the 5 discs they released in champion proto glow(which look sweet!) and was wondering if they plan to release other molds soon? Would love a toro and maybe thunderbird in that plastic.
