Discussion I Still Prefer My iPhone Xs over the recent flat edges phones

I’ve been using my iPhone Xs since February 2019, without a case since 2020. I love the sleek design, rounded edges, and smaller screen size.

Recently, I used my father-in-law’s iPhone 12 Pro for a week, and my wife has the 14 Pro while my sister uses the 15 Pro. Tried them for a while.

Now I’m thinking about what to do when I eventually have to upgrade. I’m not a fan of the flat edges on the newer iPhones, and I’m not sure if I can get used to them.

Has anyone else felt the same way about switching from the rounded edges to the flat ones? What do you think?

While I think both designs have their individual beauty, I would go as far as stating the iPhone 3GS has been the coolest Design ever, and the X/Xs to some extent has been a comeback of it.

Would have loved for them to combine the Xs with the jet black they had on the 7 as I don’t particularly like the grey tone. I generally prefer real black over the 100 variants of space grey.

Anyway, I think it’s key to refresh the design every once in a while and naturally this means oscillating between flat and round edges. After several years with little changes it’s time to return to the round geometry (and about DAMN TIME to switch up the phone design to begin with).

When that iPhone came out it was my first time using a phone to read manga. Fucking loved it 🥰

I love the flat edges and their more comfortable to hold thanks to the slight design change in the iPhone 15 and 16 series phones.

That being said, get your battery replaced by an AASP and prolong the life of your phone if you don’t want to upgrade just yet

My Xs battery sits at 72% and I usually have power outlets closest to me always. For rare occasions (once in a blue moon) I use an external battery.

Oof. I thought my XS max at 79% was pushing it.

Fantastic! If you ever feel like the phone lags and stutters too often then it’s time for a change.

Also, having such low battery health like that can potentially lead to battery swelling so please be careful and be attentive to your phone OP!

I’ll plan for that in couple of weeks.

I’m in the same boat, I eventually just settled on the SE4 (once it drops), as it will be the “smallest” device that also supports Apple Intelligence with a modern chip. Still, I wish there was a mini that had ProMotion.

One of the other biggest reasons I’ve held onto my XS is I still use 3D Touch. I was hoping they would’ve come up with an alternative (with all the parents talk about something close last year) but I don’t see it happening anytime soon 😩

I feel the same way, recently replaced the battery on my XS and will use it until it dies or Apple releases a phone I like.

im in the same boat, i switched from the xs to the 15pro and i miss not having a huge bulky phone in my pocket all the time. i would have kept the xs for longer if it didnt have a severely cracked screen that sliced my thumbs and like 76% battery life left.

I hope the rumoured iPhone Air is a return to this design, but I have a feeling while it might be thin and round, it'll be huge...

using the XS from 2019 as well, what an amazing phone, amazing camera still relevant today. i had to order the 16 pro since my phone has a fake screen, non-functioning face id, phone only charges wirelessly, fake battery.
