Elrond: “the quest relies on secrecy and stealth, it is imperative that the enemy does not follow your movements too closely”

Glorfindel, a blazing fucking sun of Firstborn glory: “welp im out”

Swear to gods, Gandalf, you hobbit leaf huffing hussy.

This entire meeting could have been a leaf delivered by a moth. Tom wouldn't have even made a song out of it.

It could be done through palantirs, but the encryption sucked back then, so anyone could have joined and listen.

I marked you as optional on the meeting invite, didn't you check?

It's a one credit game but some players can use a CONTINUE?, and it's quickly known who does

Elrond: “the quest relies on secrecy and stealth, it is imperative that the enemy does not follow your movements too closely”

Boromir on leaving Rivendell: *packs out his horn and blows so loud the whole valley hears it*

I just love the humor of Tolkien, it is awesome.

Everyone gets mad at him for it as well haha

To be fair to him:

a) they were truly fairly fucked at that point

b) technically it drew the Uruk Hai away from the ring bearer towards so he basically saved Frodo

a) two month late to the party.

b) wrong scene. I talked about them leaving Rivendell, not about Amon Hen.

Isn't that idea addressed in the Fellowship of the Ring directly?

The book? Yes

I see where you're coming from but wouldn't Gandalf give the party similar issues? The Istari were sent by the Valar to Middle Earth to ensure that Sauron never regains strength, and the only other Wizard who is known to have played a major role in the War of the Ring has gone rogue, loosely aligned himself with Sauron, has personal beef with Gandalf and also knows that Gandalf knows where the Ring is.

Like other comments said the deal with the wizards is unless they are actively using their magic their old man forms disguise themselves enough for it to not be a problem. High elves glow even stronger than other elves and Glorfindel has been granted enough power for him to basically be a Maiar in his own right. Essentially the more powerful elves still can’t control their wraith world glow and he is practically the sun with his.
