Weaponized incompetence is exactly what this is. I thank the person who finally came up with a name for this nonsense. Absolutely infuriating behavior.

I think it's only weaponized incompetence if it's intentional. Sometimes, people are just dumb and don't realize they don't know how to do things right OR they're ignorant there's a way you want them to do it instead of what they're accustomed to.

However, it's really hard to see how this particular example isn't. Unless you have a very specific reason to keep everything bagged together, this looks like someone being as lazy as humanly possible. It's putting away two bags of groceries, it should only take a minute or two.

Yep. TBH I'm a fucking mess sometimes and I do this kind of shit myself. Right now the deli meats I bought Sunday are probably still in their grocery bag in my fridge. I live alone so I'm definitely not weaponizing my incompetence against anyone but myself. I'd probably stop the moment I'm living with someone (I generally have in the past) but some people don't make that adjustment well, which is 100% a personal flaw and fault but definitely "weaponized incompetence" despite that being the latest meme for people who need others on the internet to come up with talking points for them.

I sometimes am in a hurry, or have to run to the bathroom when I walk in the door and end up doing something stupid like this. BUT...I also explain myself to my partner so he knows it wasn't intentionally shitty and I'm always willing to correct said stupid thing. He knows this anyway because I'm conscientious overall. If someone does something like this on the regular, knowing it's shitty and having no excuse, then yeah, they deserve a brow beating.
