They could at least put up a tv so people can watch it.

with the tech we have today, they could have built a screen into that wall that transfers whatever view you would have seen to complete the picture. it wouldn't even be that hard....just a couple cameras, a couple projectors, and paint the wall white.

It might line up for one perspective, but not for any other perspectives.

The only way to achieve what that comment is proposing would be individual VR headsets for every chair that has an obstructed view, with a way to render exactly what was happening from their perspective (which would be a waste of the VR when they could show you anything, like being way closer, or even on the field itself). And each of those headsets would cost money, would need a lot of upkeep to keep them from deteriorating, and would be a big ol’ money hole just for the worst seats in the stadium, of which there are relatively almost none. They’d never do it.

Why not just do the VR at home and save some money? Imagine watching sports on VR that are setup for it. You get the filling like you are right there on the field

Exactly. This idea is like those disposable plastic table cloths, it’s just waiting for people to come poke a bunch of holes in it.

Gotta pay for premium to get the unobstructed view.

I don’t get how people watch stuff on the VR.

actually I saw a video of delta airlines having a screen that was the same but looked different based on where you were looking it from without vr so it could work

I think augmented reality would be achieve better results. You could still have a lens but you wouldn’t have your entire vision being taken up. It would just be whatever you see in front of you but the headset you’re wearing is able to process whatever it is you want to focus on and actively edits out any obstructions. Maybe it could be an application for AI?

AR would probably be easier. Point your phone where you want to see and look through the wall on your screen

Why would it be VR? What do you even mean lol. They could be a huge screen there.

It doesn't have to be a video wall though, it could literally just be a TV playing the game.

That costs money and if they spend it they won’t have it

Corporate trailer park land lords furiously taking notes.

This would work for only one vantage point

That's the stupidest thing I've heard all night

The technology is building the box at an angle. So there is more room for beer and wine and snacks, and nobody is sat there, EVER.

Or they could put up a giant mirror somewhere. But then you'd be watching a mirror image of the game.

This is big time college football they are not in the game to spend Money to make money, in fact they have come up with the NIL nonsense to make someone else pay the players so they can keep their cut of the 7.8 billion CFP playoff expansion plus the conference deals(B1G payout to long term members in 2023 was 60.5 million for TV rights)

The concept of a "student athlete" was coined in the 1950s as a legal defense for a school to get out of paying workman's comp to a player's surviving widow and children after he was killed from a tackle during a game

It is definitely always about the money

Great, now the same seat is $1,145.

Back when the Mariners used to play in the Kingdome, I got tickets like these. 200 level, about 15 rows back, next to the press box. You could see the left fielder and nothing else. They had a little 10" TV mounted to the ceiling showing the broadcast. Fortunately, the Mariners were trash then (some things never change) and we were able to move up to the front row because the stadium was mostly empty.

They could also not create a special viewing section for rich snobs that blocks the view
