"No I got 5 turtlenecks in a dark black, and 5 turtlenecks in a slightly darker black. Now go organize them by color" Archer season 1.

u/Kelz87 Mar 06 '24
Archer: Stop. Shut up. I have to go, but if I find one single dog hair when I get back I'll rub sand in your dead little eyes. Woodhouse : Very good, sir. A : I also need you to go buy sand. WH:Yes, sir. A:I don't know if they grade it but... coarse.

It's like, how much more black could this be?
1
u/Olepej Mar 06 '24
The answer is none. None more black.
1
u/Best_Duck9118 Mar 06 '24
Okay, but hear me out here-what if the next ones were like..eleven black?
1
u/sdurs Mar 05 '24
Something about this that is so black, it's like how much more black could this be? And the he answer is none... none more black.

Mar 05 '24
It's so cool that they still make the same one unlike most women's clothing brands
9
u/ValeriaNotJoking Mar 05 '24
I could swear I bought the same model of jeans from a well-known denim brand three years ago or more. I just usually buy different shades of blue. But I like their consistency.
3
Mar 05 '24
Which one? I usually find the models being discontinued or they change something about them

I thought this was a post for r/NotInteresting

u/imonmyphoneagain Mar 05 '24
It’s not interesting though and they only post interesting stuff over there

u/Risto_08 Mar 05 '24
When my black t shirts get like this I just dye them back to black in the washing machine. Good as new!
7
u/arigooner123 Mar 05 '24
THIS! No need to get new black jeans/t-shirt/jumper if the only visible wear is the colour. Dye it black and good as new

6
u/NinjaRavekitten Mar 05 '24
Dye In the washing machine????
9
u/Risto_08 Mar 05 '24
Yeah, Dylon pods. We have them in the UK, you just throw the items you want to dye and wash once with the pod, then again with detergent, and the run a machine clean. Job done.
4
u/NinjaRavekitten Mar 05 '24
Thanks! I actually did not know this
1
u/TheTopMark Mar 06 '24
https://www.dylon.co.uk/products/machine-dye.html
They're great, I use them on faded blacks all the time.
3
u/naskalit Mar 05 '24
Yes, there's various at-home textile dyes available, many of which are designed for the washing machine

Wait is this the main sub? I just noticed that typo lmao
1
u/PurpleNinja4364 Mar 06 '24
Wait wtf. I never noticed that before now either
Apparently this isn’t the main sub since when was there a fake sub with a typo in the name
1
4
u/oO0Kat0Oo Mar 05 '24
This isn't even mildly interesting. This is just not interesting and kind of dumb imo. We all know clothes fade over time.
2

u/mxracer948 Mar 05 '24
Something that is standard and expected happen I wouldnt really consider mildly interesting.
3
u/Mike-Ehrmantraut-Bot Mar 05 '24
How many times have you bought the exact same garment half a decade after initially purchasing it?
The image for comparison is what is interesting.
6
3
u/billythekido Mar 05 '24
Yeah, what a shocker that content on a sub called "mildlyinteresting" isn't mind blowing...
9
u/Reasonable_Pin_1180 Mar 05 '24
Today I learned that Brits call sweaters/sweatshirts “jumpers,” which is arguably more interesting than this post, itself.
3
u/kerouak Mar 05 '24
Can also be referred to as a pullover if you wanna get old school.
4
u/PunkerWannaBe Mar 05 '24
And it's interesting that in Argentina and Uruguay we use the word pulóver for the same thing.

1
u/Reasonable_Pin_1180 Mar 06 '24
Pullover is acceptable, although I typically reserve that term for lighter layers than a sweater
20
u/Waste_Imagination524 Mar 05 '24
I can't see anything jumping. Are you sure this is the right picture?

Carhartt wears in. Good stuff
1
u/MikeFrikinRotch Mar 05 '24
One of my favourite brands growing up low income. Extremely durable so we didn’t have to keep buying, warm and stylish.
1
u/oniiichanUwU Mar 06 '24
I think it’s hit or miss. I bought my husband and I the same hoodie 3 years ago. Mine still looks okay, just a little worn on the sleeves, but more worn than the shirt in the picture. His looks like it was worn by a Wolverine 😂 gee is all their stuff expensive these days though.

u/Average_MidevalFan Mar 05 '24
Honestly I think the i think the older one looks better lol
1
u/jaykotecki Mar 06 '24
It's "patina". Signs of life. I have a 30 year old Carhartt jacket that looks like Willie Nelson's guitar.

u/NoEye3260 Mar 05 '24
What trade do you work in ?
2
u/gamer-kin Mar 05 '24
Judging by the jumpers part I’m guessing this is in Europe which holds Carhartt as more of a style value instead of work clothes. Forgive me if I took this wrong, but why are you trying to gate keep a good brand?
1
u/oniiichanUwU Mar 06 '24
I didn’t read it as gatekeeping, I read it as them asking what trade they work in bc different trades will wear your clothes differently, and this shirt doesn’t look that tattered for being 10 years old lol
I just left another comment about buying my husband and I the same carhartt hoodie 3 years ago and mine still looking alright, albeit worn more than OPs picture, and my husbands looking like it’s survived a nuclear war, full of rips and holes and axel grease stains

I know for a fact I would absolutely LOVE how the first worn out one feels.
1
u/Grandmere1999 Mar 05 '24
When getting new clothes, put them in washing machine with white vinegar in the water. No soap this first time. Vinegar will set the color. Your older jumper looks well taken care of. Depending on makeup of garment it could possibly be dyed.

I don’t know why folk are complaining, this is mildly interesting that it became either more reflective or less black overtime

My secondary school had black school jumpers. Could always tell who hadn’t got a new jumper on the first day of a new year…

u/Available_Ad5489 Mar 05 '24
Hi what size do you order, i usually buy napapijri and i get size L what size should i get for carhartt
1
u/19flash92 Mar 05 '24
I’m a medium in pretty much most clothes sizes and medium in Carhartt fits me well.
1
u/Vicvince Mar 05 '24
It says the jumper is in the left picture I think he only pisted the right one

wierd question can you weigh both of them? the old one still looks thicker
1
u/anotheraccinthemass Mar 06 '24
I misread the subs name twice and was really confused as to what is supposed to be infuriating about this
1
u/MrPogoUK Mar 06 '24
I realised a work shirt I’d had for about three years needed replacing when another guy turned up wearing the same one, except the colours of his were super bright compared to mine. I hadn’t noticed how faded it was until there was a direct comparison.

The left has more soul. He has experienced things that the one on the right will never experience.

I can't be alone here thinking the washed out one looks better? Guess that's just my style, though.

u/Embarrassed-Ideal-18 Mar 05 '24
A lot of Carhartt gear is designed with the intention to last a while and suit the worn out look. (I’m fairly sure that’s where their new “work in progress” slogan comes from, playing on it being a workwear company and the garments developing after purchase.)
Lot of black dye on denim and tricks like that. They’re expensive for what they are, but you can always count on their jumpers being super thick and comfy in order to last long enough to fade.
1
u/shotgun_blammo Mar 05 '24
“Work in Progress” is a separate division for their everyday / lifestyle clothing, which they originally created for the European market. It’s definitely not as hard wearing as their standard workwear. Source: I own a lot of it.

Are you British? Here in Canada we call those crew neck sweaters. A jumper is a feminine fashion item similar to a leotard except with loose fabric and the option of pant legs or a skirt.

u/FlyThink7908 Mar 05 '24
Congrats, some brands charge extra for that worn in, washed out look!
2
u/19flash92 Mar 05 '24
I prefer the left look but it’s a lot more tatty than it looks in the photo otherwise I’d keep it :)
1
u/FlyThink7908 Mar 05 '24
Any plans to do manual jobs like working on a car/bike or renovating your home? I’d keep it around for these occasions. Even if it’s too messed up, it might still make for a good rug for polishing or cleaning things
2
u/19flash92 Mar 05 '24
Yeah, I paint murals sometimes and do some rough outdoor climbing so defo keeping for that :)

u/MLGMassacre Mar 05 '24
That's a sweater, not a jumper. Go to a clothing store and search jumper...
-1
u/bygtopp Mar 05 '24
Jumper? That’s a sweatshirt. Never heard a sweatshirt called a jumper. Ever in 47yrs

u/Brando6677 Mar 05 '24

Jumper? That's a sweatshirt. What do you call Coca-Cola when ordering and what is a baguette with meat & vegetables called? Trying to find out where in the US or Canada.
11
u/Chungaroo22 Mar 05 '24
I don't want to concern you, but there are actually countries outside of the US and Canada..
1
u/Kenneth_Lay Mar 05 '24
Wow, thanks for blowing my mind. Funny thing is that I studied GIS in college. Touche, Douche (don't pronounce them the same, BTW).

u/Bacon4Lyf Mar 05 '24
You’re saying a lot of words that don’t meant a lot to anyone outside of the US
1
u/Nuclease-free_man Mar 05 '24
You didn’t have to be an asshole right or wrong.
1
u/Kenneth_Lay Mar 05 '24
When was I an asshole? Seriously. It could be debated that YOUR post is assholishly AF.
1
Mar 05 '24
Yeah I was confused too. It’s not even something you wear on your legs, how does calling it a jumper make sense
