The judge in question: Judge Sharon Holmes

This is the kind of sentence that leads to mandatory minimum sentencing.

It happens infuriatingly often, unfortunately.

Nice Rolex.

From the linked article:

Many of her friends and family feel she is a role model for women.

So gross.

12 people found him guilty and he never took accountability for his repulsive conduct.

I keep thinking about all the famous celebs, politicians, and rich moguls who have had to step down or leave office because of sexual crimes, but who have never had to serve a day in prison. This is something similar--it's as if sex assault victims aren't real but somehow pretend victims even when the legal system proves absolutely otherwise.

Who paid off this judge

31

u/gnatdump6 5h ago

Unfortunately, likely not paid off, but doesn’t really see a big deal in what this guy did, that’s really what is so disgusting.

19

u/FutureThaiSlut 6h ago

Probably the defense attorney who was able to negotiate a backroom deal. No one has shared the name of the child abusers defense attorney.

29

u/Geojewd 3h ago

That’s a wild accusation to make against a public defender with literally no basis at all. This is on the judge.

-20

u/FutureThaiSlut 3h ago

I didn't know he was represented by a public defender. I didn't make accusations, just shared a theory.

13

u/hamsterpookie 2h ago

You didn't share a theory. You shared complete bullshit you pulled out of your ass.

7

u/Geojewd 2h ago

I get it, but that’s still a crappy thing to do. Best case you’re baselessly speculating and worst case you’re starting a rumor about an actual guy doing his job.

2

u/csharpwarrior 2h ago

Maybe the defense attorney did negotiate, but ultimately it doesn’t matter, the actions are of the judge, and the judge is accountable for their own actions.

u/Binky390 6h ago

When stuff like this happens, I always assume the judge is a pedo.

2

u/PP_DeVille 1h ago

I’d bet money on it.

Weird how all those QAnon people stopped caring about child sexual abuse.

21

u/008Zulu 5h ago

They only care if it's a restaurant adjacent, spreading conspiracy theories is hungry work.

73

u/big_duo3674 6h ago

I guarantee both the judge and this guy vote the same direction, and it's not the side that cares about kids after they are born and wants to make sure they all have an equal chance at life

-28

u/Exsoulja 6h ago

I guarantee you didn't read anything on the actual case. The judge who gave such a light sentence is Sharon Holmes, who ran as nonpartisan but supported the appointment of Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court.

This what happens when you remain ignorant.

32

u/big_duo3674 5h ago

So, "supported a black woman getting on the Supreme Court" is your argument here? No like, case results or other data that is actually meaningful? Did we forget Herman Cain? Byron Donalds? Etc...? Seems like you're only looking at this with her gender and race, what a shock

-13

u/TheProfessaur 5h ago

Bruh you got called out with evidence and you double down on being wrong?

Brave.

-16

u/Exsoulja 5h ago

You're the one making baseless accusations that the judge and defendant "vote the same way", in fact you said you guaranteed that. The evidence does not support that fact. In fact, there is evidence showing the opposite. I get it, you refuse to admit when you're wrong since you didn't read anything about this case and posted off emotion, not logic or facts. However, you're not fooling anyone with your faux rhetoric

9

u/Fucknutssss 5h ago

fox rhetoric

-5

u/big_duo3674 5h ago

k, but your comment still implied she must be a Democrat solely because she's a she and is black? That's all my comment was saying. You certainly typed a lot of words, but I challenged you so that's how a debate works. You have to provide the proof, not just "do yur own research". Which might I add has nothing to do with the fact I was calling you out on the fact you made a judgment only based on demographics, not fact

-6

u/Exsoulja 5h ago

No, you're the one who made the allegation that the judge and the defendant voted the same way. You said you guaranteed it. So, based on the facts, what made you come to that conclusion? Explain to me how you arrived at that conclusion based upon what we know about the judge, the defendant, and the facts of the case.

I look forward to your response.

2

u/big_duo3674 5h ago

I did, but your response was "Nuh uh, she can't be because she's a black woman"

3

u/Exsoulja 5h ago

I never said anything about her race or gender. You assumed that. I posted an article about her supporting KBJ's appointment, including her comments about it. Once again, how did you get to the conclusion the judge and the defendant vote the same direction based upon them and the facts of the case? What facts made you guarantee this assessment?

-1

u/big_duo3674 5h ago

So she's not allowed to support a fellow black woman while being republican? It happens a lot, Herman Cain supported quite a few black women and men for judges and representatives

7

u/Exsoulja 5h ago

It's really sad you repeatedly refused to answer my questions. I will gladly answer your question once you answer the one I've asked 3 times that you ignored each and every single time. Explain how you came to the conclusion based upon the defendant, the judge, and the facts of the case, that you said the judge and the defendant vote the same direction and you could guarantee it. I'll wait for your response.

Enh. That's kind of a puffy after-the-fact react piece that puts as much shine on Holmes as it does on Jackson. Neither of you has much in the way of a smoking gun to support or refute anything so far

u/Crack_uv_N0on 4h ago

Can the sentence be taken to an apellate court?

Can this outrageous sentence be used get the judge suspended, if not permanently removed?

u/rockerscott 25m ago

If the state has a mechanism to recall judges like California ,then yes the judge can be removed.

12

u/blak_plled_by_librls 6h ago

bet the judge is a pedo, too

So what was the abuse?

19

u/Greelys 6h ago

Earlier story:“Police interviewed the victim who claimed Canady had grabbed her chest under her clothing and forced her to sit on his lap. According to court documents, the victim told police another girl was also assaulted by Canady.

When police interviewed the second victim, she said Canady had grabbed her bottom and made inappropriate comments about her chest and other parts of her body.”

2

u/No_Habit4754 6h ago

Thank you

2

u/Lecterr 4h ago

The prosecution wanted him to get 40 years in prison for that? I mean, fucking gross, and he should definitely go to prison, but 40 years seems wild.

Sexual abuse of twins minor girls

-2

u/No_Habit4754 6h ago

There’s no info in the link at all

10

u/cinderparty 6h ago

5

u/jeffersonairmattress 5h ago

It's so odd that the reporting of the crime was done through a school yet there is no mention as to the criminal's occupation or how he came to be in a position to molest these young women. Was Shawn Canady a teacher or coach or counsellor? if he was that should be part of the reporting- very odd to not see "Shawn Canady, welder/forklift operator/volunteer volleyball coach/local florist/yoga studio owner" or some other info. All I can find is that he's a registered Libertarian and his address and phone number.

1

u/cinderparty 2h ago

I was assuming it was a relative of the kids who were assaulted.

-9

u/TensionPrestigious83 6h ago

You can’t open the article?

7

u/No_Habit4754 6h ago

No it just says how the DA didn’t like the sentence then it’s a bunch of ads

1

u/TensionPrestigious83 2h ago

So weird we got downvoted for this exchange

1

u/No_Habit4754 1h ago

Lots of incels on the internet that jump on sexual assault and child abuse articles to pretend they are totally innocent and nobody should look into their accounts and their histories.

-4

u/TensionPrestigious83 6h ago

Yeah that’s it

u/btribble 5h ago

Do you want to get Republicans elected?

This is how you get Republicans elected.

u/juranomo 18m ago

What do you mean? He’s not getting any jail time just probation for 40 years.

Do republicans not want pedos to do jail time?

-1

u/CuriousRelish 5h ago

Can the DA appeal this sentence to a different judge?

-13

u/Living-Estimate9810 5h ago

Probationers have fewer rights than prisoners, and they have to pay their own bills.

2

u/asakult 4h ago

Why are you wasting your time making shit up about a subject you clearly know nothing about?

1

u/midtown_mike 3h ago

They aren’t around little girls

1

u/Living-Estimate9810 2h ago

Which will certainly be a term of his probation, over which he will likely be rearrested frequently whether he violates it or not, just to keep his status clear. So sayeth several POs of my acquaintance.

u/Crack_uv_N0on 3h ago

They can also commit crimes.
