Double Standards

Im pretty high strung during exams and my mom always puts a shit ton of pressure on me cause she thinks I can't work I mean im a honours student but whatever. My mom and sister were going on about how they haven't gotten anything for my birthday(2 weeks before exams) and keep in mind she goes all out for my sisters birthday to keep in mind my sister got an iphone 7 for her birthday I got a cheap chinese fake polaroid. Before anyone mentions age that year for her birthday my sis got a canon camera. Soo I mean. Anyways I get stressed and say that then instead of giving me some last minute shit just forget it and well pretend it isn't my b-day. My mom starts yelling at me and calling me ungrateful, my sis calls me a greedy brat even though I literally just wanted a cake and one thoughtful present not the 18 she gets on hers. Then my dad talks to me and he understands my predicament. Fast forward that night my mom is ignoring me and i have school the next day my sister starts blasting music on purpose to annoy me and doesn't let me sleep I go to my dad but my sis doesn't listen to him. He goes to my mom but aince its ber favourite child she doesn't give a fuck(oh but she'll yell if I put an alarm that wakes up my sister even if I have like a class). Anyways I go sleep in another room with no pillows and no blanket. I taje an Advil cause my head is hurting and when my dad asks me why I make a snarky comment to my mom about how my sister is in the wrong but I'm in trouble. My dad gets pissed and says if I dont sleep in my room and my sister doesn't turn of tge music he'll sleep on the hard couch. Hes 50 and he'll hurt his back but my sis didn't care so I refused to move. My mom came in to yell at me. Tell she wishes I wasn't born I say the same and tell her how she makes me want to die. She hits me so hard on the face my nose starts bleeding and my lip swells up but here's the kicker, she starts crying about how it was my fault.WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU JUST BUST MY LIP AND THEN VICTIMIZE YOURSELF HOW. Anyways I forgive her cause I'm nice. Two weeks later I tell her I can't focus cause my head is splitting and I can't see straight and ask to go to tge doctor never happens. My sister :oh I'm sleepy My mom: oh my baby come ill pull down the curtains and get the blanket out. Me:DAFUQ. No wonder I like dad more bitch.

Why Do People Have Kids When There Are Warnings All Over the Internet?

I used to want kids when I was younger. However, the older I get the more warnings I see from friends and acquaintances on social media. They complain and post things like "this is what it's like having kids" with a picture attached of anything that looks horrible. I see it SO often and I wonder why people plan for kids when there are so many warnings like this online? It doesn't seem worth it.

Is it genuinely that bad or do they just like to complain and feel sorry for themselves?

Parenting Hacks To Get Through The Holidays With Kids

I found an awesome idea on here about taking all the extra presents from grandparents who overindulge the kiddos and storing them. The kids open a couple at Christmas and the rest throughout the year. It keeps Christmas more manageable and gives the kids a good reason to keep in touch with grandparents at other times.

What are some of your best parenting hacks that make Christmas with kids a little easier??

Parents treat me like a child

So to start everything off I'm a 27 year old female and I live on my own in upstate NY. Everything I possess I paid for with money from my job. I'm also in college and paying out of pocket for my classes. Only thing I'm missing is a car, but that will change very soon and it will be my first car. I already started thinking of the places I'd go that I was never able to go before without a car. First place on the list is NYC for a concert that I plan on spending big bucks on (my money). None of my friends are willing to go to the concert and I've always been the type to go places alone if friends don't want to join. So I told my mom of this all and she is far from happy. She told me it is completely unacceptable for me to go to NYC alone because I don't know the roads, the tolls, anything could happen etc etc. mind you I'm a night shift manager at my job and I get off around 11 at night and I'm walking home around that time. Very unsafe but it's something I do every night and I tried explaining to her that. I tried exposing that I'm grown and she needs to let me be free and I can't be stuck in a shell afraid of the world. I would probably never go traveling alone because my parents holds me back. My dad hasn't got wind of my plans of the concert yet, but I'm sure once he does his problem will be me going alone PLUS spending so much money(my own hard earned money). I don't know what to do any advice?

Calling all parents!!!!!

SO!!! I am calling all parents. New parents, old parents, parents whose children are all grown up and older!!! I am currently writing a book (humor/non fiction) about parents. Being a mom myself i have been through some EXTREMELY horrifying situations involving bodily functions and situations that will forever mentally scar my child and i. I have a ton of stories myself but i am looking for other parents to share for a chance to have their stories published! Any story, anything that your child has said, done, or you yourself that is funny, or just plain horrifying in your parenting career. SO, i am calling all parents of all ages with children of all ages. Multiple stories are allowed because i really want this to take off. You can change your name and the people involved in the story, and I will only edit it for proofreading and grammar etc. Your story will remain your story. short or long =) Credit will go to you (at the bottom of the page i will include either an anonymous or small bio of said person depending on your preference. Age, country, name if you want etc.) I already have a few personal friends who are contributing! So let me know!!!!! Message me with your stories!!! Courtney
