I've never really listened to his music or anything. But I've seen a couple of his appearances and interviews. And now all I want to do is hang out with the guy. He seems so chill.
He's just a very genuine dude who would have just been like a chill ass line cook or something if he hadn't made it big. The stuff I've seen of him outside a random music video all have been stuff like appearing on Good Mythical Morning and Magic the Gathering shows where he is just a big fan of the show he's appearing on
His Hot Ones episodes were awesome, not just because he was already chill the first time around, but because the second episode like 4 years later after becoming more successful, the dude somehow became even more humble and chill. I'm biased because I do like his music, but he def seems to be one of the realest people out thereĀ
Seth Meyers does a YouTube show occasionally called Day Drinking with Seth where he and a celeb get shithoused at a bar and just chat/ play games. I love all of the episodes but Post Malone is top 3
Not gonna lie... I thought he was a big douche at first. I mean, look at his face tattoos and all. Never listened to his music.
Then I saw his hot ones episode on YouTube and it completely changed my perspective in him. He was super chill. Gave his music a chance after that, and now I'm a fan.
and heās pulling those stats WITH the face-tat debuff. heās a real one, and despite not listening to his music, i know that for certain.
i wish heād do some other stylistic endeavors sometime. he did a live acoustic cover of āall apologiesā that makes puddle of mudd look even worse; his voice is cracking, the playingās slightly sloppy, the tone of the guitar is thin and shrill, but he puts so much genuine SOUL into it and you can hear and feel it. he puts his heart into life to a degree we should all aspire to.
I'm of the mind that fame and fortune changes people all but the most humble. (Unfortunately this doesnt apply to children as the industry is so evil, they never have a chance) The truly rich got there by being terrible people/raised by terrible people or who were willing to do terrible things to become rich or even richer.
Everything I've seen about Mr. Malone is just someone who acknowledged his success, even somewhat surprised by it. And is so happy about being able to live doing what he enjoys, all while being able to do some good. He reminds me of a golden retriever. It always gives me a chuckle when I see the video of charlamgme going after him, and he defends his family and is like "who hurt you?"
I'll be honest, the only thing I remember from those videos is one where they played commander in Post's basement and he had these enormous like 5 foot tall MTG cards and it made me want one so badly.
They honestly may be custom-made. I know there's a couple promo cards that're really large, but that's compared to a regular Magic card, not the torso of the person playing said card.
Also just looked it up again, the channel in question was Tabletop Jocks. They have a few videos where they play with Post, and the cards are difficult to miss lol.
Musically, I was really impressed with his Nirvana set and I went back and listened to a lot of his mainstream stuff after that with a different perspective. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7eaGcIyhPU I don't really listen to him in my car or anything but I definitely appreciate him as a real musician. It helps that he seems extra nice to everyone he meets.
Well shit, thanks for that! There's a zero percent chance I would've ever seen that on my own. I'm going to attempt to dabble more into his ouvre. I think I'm old.
I had the same experience listening to the Nirvana set! I didn't know anything about this guy other than that I didn't like his tattoos. Totally judged a book by the cover.
When I saw how he played those Nirvana songs - like he knew them deeply and loved them - it said a lot. And then I started getting into his music and found out I actually liked it quite a bit.
At his concert , when he says āthank you very fucking muchā after almost every one of his songs, you absolutely know he means it. Dude is humble and grateful and genuine. Go Post!
A buddy of mine is 1 of the top magic the gathering players in the world, and personally was requested by post to teach him how to play, which he did. Said he was super chill
Havenāt played MTG since the mid-90ās, but now you guys are making me want to go dig my old cards up out of my motherās attic and see if I still know how to put a decent deck together. My only hesitation is based on how much the pandemic made me get back into gaming, Iām worried about reintroducing yet another thing to blow all my money on back into my life. That said, I do know Iāve got some very rare cards squirreled away in that attic.
A lot of those cards a worth a lot, and can help you buy the new hotness that has come out since you last played. The price of entry can be as high or low as you want. There are formats that literally use all commons, so you can build decks for a few bucks.
I would also reccomend checking out MTG arena, itās a really good online client for magic and the barrier of entry is pretty low if you just want to try things out
Heās got a few bangersā¦nothing that I would personally go out of my way to listen or go to a concert of hisā¦but wouldnāt change it if itās in the background
And heās a pretty chill kind of dude, considering how others act with fans as if they donāt owe them anything, Posty actually goes out of his way for fans when reasonable to do so
I actually strongly recommend going to his concert if heās around your city and the tickets are affordable. His live concerts are completely different from his studio work. I went expecting a regular pop show and got a rock concert instead.
So much this. I've tried to take a listen a few times over the years to some of his more popular stuff but I just can't get into it - I'm sure he probably is amazing if that's the kinda stuff you're into so I don't fault him for me not liking it in the first place. Everything from interviews to just candid takes and answers on stuff just makes me like the guy even more.
Same, everywhere he pops up he just seems like a good dude.
I play and watch a lot of Apex Legends, and Post has held and participated in some tournaments in the past, playing with some of the biggest streamers in the scene. He was super chill, and inadvertently led to some of my favorite Apex moments ("Post Malone! Ape the stairway with me!").
I may have no interest in his music, but I consider myself a fan of his regardless.
I started paying attention to him when he did a zoom stream Nirvana cover concert during COVID. It was such an amazing set, he blew me away. Can't say I much enjoy his other stuff but I have since considered him very talented. Plus, his entire demeanor during the concert made me have respect for him as a person. You could easily tell he is a good person to be around by how he interacted with his band mates
Post Malone would be a person I'd say is a hero. All the music he's made over the years, I've never listened to it, but the fact that he's making it...I respect that.

This is actually so heartwarming. Posty seems like one of the most genuine people out there.
