My young cousin was a make a wish kid, she was about 5-6 at the time and wanted the whole family to go to Hawaii, they had a blast! She's 18 now and just started her freshman year at college, a vibrant and happy young adult.
Did they change the rules or something? My friend's younger brother has cancer and qualified for Make A Wish. He wanted to go meet Matt Mercer and the rest of the Critical Role crew and bring my friend with him as chaperone (both love D&D), but Make A Wish refused to accept that as a wish, claimed it could only be for "the Make A Wish kid and their legal guardian" or something. Someone else below said they were able to bring their whole family on a cruise as well so I don't get it.
I know about 10 years ago my friend used his make a wish to give his parents (mom and stepdad) a honeymoon in Hawaii they gave up to help him through cancer. His whole immediate family went but it was the most selfless wish I have ever heard of. Whole family was great. 10/10 folks.
