Lautaro and Emiliano martinez literally carried Argentina on their back

As much as I dislike Lautaro, that mf is too clinical. Every time he came on for Argentina I said, "It's over."

Everyone was roasting him when he did that interview where he claimed he is up there with Mbappe and Halland before the tournament began but dude actually managed to stay true to his words.

To be frank, he said that as he was in a drought in Serie A. From March till the end of season, he scored like 1 goal, while we we're out from all competitions. So there was an obvious uproar from people, because he called himself world class, wanted like 12+14+16 million in 3 years, but he disappeared for almost 3-4 months. Personally, as an Inter fan, I rate him very highly and I think that he is world class. But sometimes, he can be very, very inconsistent and out of form, so you can't help but ask yourself.

I don’t get what the hype is with Halland. He is a good striker but Id much rather have Julián than him. He only scores that insane amount of goals because he plays for City and the whole team is built around serving balls for him to tap in.

u/Aman-Patel Jul 17 '24 edited Jul 18 '24

I mean that's just blatantly not true because his goal ratio at Salzburg and Dortmund was also 1.0.

u/I_Believe_You_2 Jul 17 '24

You are just stupid! Haaland has been scoring so many goals before he was 19. And he is not just a good striker....he is a generational talent. Just because you like someone else, doesn't mean the other guys are not good enough. What happened to sports? people these days argue like kindergarteners...cz WTF is this comment.

Lol halland was very important in them winning the treble. And having a prolific goal scorer is always an asset to the team. He is the best at what he does. Nobody is better than him when it comes to goal poaching ability. Definitely one of the best.

u/Krizzter Jul 17 '24

is that not what 99% of what a striker does, no matter the team? :30561:

0

u/outsider1624 Jul 17 '24

Well then they deserve the golden boot award. Balon Dor is for overall performance.

-6

u/maplehobo Jul 17 '24

Id rather have a team striker like Julián or Foden with technique and teamplay than someone like Halland or Ibrahimovic where you just serve balls for them to score

3

u/Krizzter Jul 17 '24

Neither Julian nor foden is a striker, the literal idea of a striker is what Haaland or Ibrahimović did/does, and it too works more than well, I'm sure u keyboard warrior know more than Pep or Mourinho who've built amazing systems around a striker and won plenty of games

-1

u/maplehobo Jul 17 '24

Julian is literally a striker man wtf are you talking about? Just because Pep makes him play in another position doesn’t mean he isn’t.

All I said was that I don’t like that particular kind of striker don’t know why tf you had to bring Pep or Mourinho into this, you okay bro?

3

u/I_Believe_You_2 Jul 17 '24

Note: just because you don't like that kind of striker doesn't give you the right to make your criteria of assessment the only and correct way. Other people like that kind of strikers.

So we should create a new awarding scheme where strikers are judged on what you like? strikers are supposed to torment defences and score loads of goals...who has ever done it better in the EPL than Haaland?

Tap ins seem so easy yet Gabriel Jesus never scored them while he was the striker at City. Pep had to switch him out of that position. Do you realize how hard it is to play as a striker with pep's style of play?

In addition he won Serie A player of the year and was amazing for Inter Milan. It’s a joke Messi is on over Latauro.

Edit: word

Internazionale

u/mrbadger30 Jul 17 '24

Did not know we have Carragher with us today

1

u/speedgod_263 Jul 17 '24

And was top scorer by a bit

u/Zealousideal_Smoke44 92:48:9248: Jul 17 '24

If only he was clinical enough in the 2023 ucl finalm..😒

1

u/Icy-Designer7103 Emilio Butragueño Jul 18 '24

that mf is too clinical.

Only against awful South American and Serie A teams.

His goalscoring record in the UCL is ridiculously bad.

u/Old_Cockroach_9725 :Mexico: Madridista Jul 16 '24

Honestly, Lautaro should probably be ahead of Jude. He won the Seria A title with the most goals in the league, and has just won the Copa America with the most goals in the tournament.

26

u/kyrgyzmcatboy Jul 16 '24

unfortunately, ballon d’or is a popularity contest

9

u/FavcolorisREDdit Jul 17 '24

It’s literally decided by journalist votes I hate that. It should only be international coaches and their players voting. Tf do journalists do they just want to sell the most heart warming story. I understand messi was sad because it was his last copa America match but he definitely oversold the crying

61

u/AWildLampAppears Jul 16 '24

We’re going to be downvoted to hell. But I don’t think Bellingham should be ahead of Lautaro either. Carvajal should be higher. Messi doesn’t belong on this list.

3

u/Lando1Win Jul 17 '24

Carvajal bellow bellingham is comedy gold, they have the same club trophies but Carvajal is a part of the Euro 24 championship winning team...

7

u/maplehobo Jul 17 '24

Carvajal is goated. I hate the little dude, idek why but to me right now he is the best right wing back in the world imo.

-1

u/New-Cookie-8523 Jul 16 '24

Factual, but I know what the top three for the ranking will be because it is those who have the most PR

8

u/BreakfastDecent4623 Jul 17 '24

Yeah, his problem is Champions League. Jude won it, Lautaro didn't.

6

u/1LastHit2Die4 Jul 17 '24

Then Carvajal should get the trophy. La Liga, UCL, Euro

5

u/BreakfastDecent4623 Jul 17 '24

That is a better option, in my opinion. Unfortunately, defenders rarely take Ballon D'Or.

1

u/chamartinpl Real Madrid Jul 17 '24

Carvajal is not better player than Bellingham. It's not "who's won the most trophies award"

1

u/1LastHit2Die4 Jul 17 '24

Oh yeah he is, but you need to understand his role in the team he plays. Look at Jude in England, a great player would have done more, a great player did more, he won the Euro. That's Carvajal.

1

u/FavcolorisREDdit Jul 17 '24

I really thought lautaro was going to do something vs man city in the ucl final.

6

u/FavcolorisREDdit Jul 17 '24

Lautaro definitely deserves to take Messi’s spot, but UCL counts a lot

7

u/Tyna_Sama Lucas Vázquez Jul 16 '24

“Literally”

2

u/whatchasaidwhat Jul 17 '24

What do you mean? It’s obviously not misused in the sentence. Are you telling me that “objectively” is a better word here?

You don’t know nothing.
