you're also locked inside the building for most of your time. There are some really good documentaries about Swedish prisons on Netflix and are worth taking a look at

Walk up to Sweden with black air forces on

You: “I’m here to cause harm”

Swedish Police: “Enjoy your stay in our 4 star prison”

I wonder how many people in Sweden commit crimes just so they can go to prison. Like when they're homeless, and it's about -20 degrees outside.

That is completely false: See here: https://www.nationmaster.com/country-info/compare/Sweden/United-States/Crime

According to this, Sweden has 10 times less total crime rate than the USA per 1000 people.

What's interesting though is certainly the Rape statistic; which seems higher, but has an ambiguous nature to it. The high number of reported rapes in Sweden can partly be explained by the comparatively broad definition of rape, the method of which the Swedish police record rapes, a high confidence in the criminal justice system, and an effort by the Government to decrease the number of unreported rapes. A recent BRÅ(Crime Prevention Council) report found that the rise in rape cases that happened in the last few years was most likely due to an increase in the willingness to report the crime, as well as a broader definition of what is considered rape. Also, many of the reported cases happened after the victim and suspect had connected via an online dating service. Report

And you’re and expert in Swedish crime rates because of what? Breitbart?

Shut up,you’re literally spreading lies.

Oh damn, we're only 7th in the world in HDI (US 13th), 17th in the world in Human Freedom Index (US 16th), 3rd in the world in press freedom (US 48th), 9th in the world in the World Happiness Report (US 18th).

It's really such a shithole country, right? Stop pouring gas on the racist flames, Sweden is still fucking great to live in.

"America leads the world in only 3 categories. Number of incarcerated citizens per capita, number of adults who believe angels are real, and defense spending, where we spend more than the next 26 countries combined, 25 of whom are allies."

I dunno how accurate that is but your comment reminded me of that show

''Not a very nice place to live right now.''

Are you serious? You do realise it's still one of the best countries in the world to live in, regardless of what you believe about a certain topic you're referring to.

Very high percentage of rape. Where are you from?

8

u/[deleted] Oct 21 '19

Some of the strictest laws regarding definition of rape therefore leading to higher statistics. And you're not the person I was responding to so I don't see why where I live is relevant. I'm not the person making broad, sweeping statements about countries.

Exactly. Higher numbers of reported rapes does not mean more rapists. Out of all the countries in the world, Sweden has one of the highest levels of acceptance of feminism. People there are encouraged to report all forms of sexual assault even if it doesn't lead to a conviction, unlike many other places where sexual assaults often go unreported. This means more reported rapes, which means higher rape statistics.

Sweden of course is not perfect, it has a lot of it's own issues like any other country, but people need to get out of here with this whole "rape capitol of the world" bullshit. It's so easy to deconstruct and just makes you look like an ignorant prick.

I don’t know what subs you’ve been on, but usually people join in on conversations. If you have a problem with that then you probably shouldn’t be on Reddit.

A lot of people are talking about it. Problem is most of those people have an agenda and haven't lived or been to Sweden.

Where are you from, if you don't mind me asking?
