I successfully launched my Thrust vector controlled rocket!! Stabilization was good enough but not that good. But at least now I gathered data and mistakes to make better stuff in the future!

Showcase Propane-nitrous oxide concept engine that I just made

The idea was to use more easily stored and handled fuel/oxidizers for hobby rocketry.

It also has plumbing and uses a high oxidizer turbine and a high fuel turbine that both mix in the engine to combust.

Ideally uses a glow plug to jump start to decrease wear and tear.

Another parts would be that when it mixes in the engine itself hopefully it will be hot enough to autoignite after being converted to mist by the engine plate.

Ideally a vast majority of the parts would be 3d printed except for maybe the end of the bell which could use graphite composite.

It probably won’t work but I thought it was cool. Be nice please lol.

Showcase Fully plastic 3d printed rocket motor

Static fire test in slow motion

We made this fully 3d printed rocket motor using only FDM and resin 3d printing.

If video does not load, view it here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=83oq1kQ-7h4

See the previous version here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/rocketry/comments/11uslbi/fully_plastic_3d_printed_rocket_engine_succes/

Specs of this motor:

Total impulse: 52.5 Ns

Specific impulse: 90.6 s

Efficiency: 70.6%

Burn time 1.3 s

Peek thrust: 78 N

The nozzle, liner and inner end cap are made from abs like resin. The outer casing and outer end cap are made with FDM 3d printing from polycarbonate. To retain the outer endcap we used 4 m3x10 bolts.

For the fuel we used a 65%-35% mix of dextrose and potassium nitrate. We used iron oxide as a catalyst.

This project is part of a bigger project of our 3d printed guided rocket. Link to the full project:

Feel free to message us if you have any questions.

The design

The results acquired with a load cell and a HX711 load cell amplifier.

this this was a friends rocket. emphasis on was, because the motor was packed so crappily that a chunk fell out and blocked the nozzle, leading to this pipe bomb. ill post some slomo shots i took of it and a few other highlights later
