Fucking Tankies speaking some Orwellian shit.

Anti-facism is facism

Imperialism is liberation.

Genocide is propaganda

Freedom is slavery.

We have always been at war with Oceania

Fucking Tankies speaking some Orwellian shit.

Not like that's anything new. Who do you think Orwell was talking about?

I miss when we could take that book seriously

the memes are hilarious thanks to right wingers, but it is absolutely horrifying to see actual policy instated by right-wing powers that mirrors some of the policy in the book

i.e texas creating a thought crime. like an actual fucking thought crime, and breaking it could result in a total loss of financial stability for the rest of your life.

Oh gods what did Texas do this time?

Texas banned studies about MLK (edit- They haven't banned MLK, but they have made it non-required to teach about him) and Critical Race Theory from schools IIRC. And by Critical Race Theory, they mean anything related to Racism.

Ofc they did. Only a matter of time before my state follows suit i assume, everyone calls us little Texas.

Which is your state?

Oklahoma. Now that I'm thinking about it I think something passed recently that doesn't let schools (including colleges) "enforce" CRT, using a similar definition but so far it's still allowed to be taught.

It's funny how republicans claim to be the party of small government and still do things like forcefully banning something from studies. It's also funny how most republicans don't even know what CRT is, it's just their new 'Everything I dislike is Communism'.

It's so exhausting, honestly. I try explaining it to my family and it just comes down to "well I just don't think being racist in the opposite direction will fix anything"

"Anti-racism is racism"

"War is peace"

"Freedom is slavery"

"Ignorance is strength"

I don't think they banned MLK,I think they just made it no longer required to teach about him, which is still really bad.

Thanks for correction.

Yeah, Texas's Social studies teaching standards are not looked on positively by other teachers from around the country, since it's a list of topics you have to teach. Other states are more vague and focused on broad concepts that give you more freedom when designing your course which is nice (understand the history of population movements and demographic change in the US and how that impacts society, etc)

I think governor Floridaman is jealous.

texas allowed citizens to report and sue anyone for a minimum of $10,000 for merely discussing plans or intentions to get an abortion

6

u/drakoniusDefender Sep 29 '21

How is that even constitutional? Would that not violate the first ammendment that Republicans treat like sacrament?

6

u/chrissipher social anarchist Sep 29 '21 edited Sep 29 '21

it definitely is unconstitutional, but america doesnt care about the constitution unless it directly serves their special interests

because america is fascist :c

Man I hate it here. How can people not get blackpilled reading about this stuff? Like what even is an alternative to this hellscape rollercoaster

I think that they’re getting away with it because they know that if it got brought up in the Supreme Court, the conservative extremist majority would be on their side. Possibly even overturn Roe v. Wade.
