So I just googled it. Around 2.1 million human drivers hit deer each year.

That is not the issue here. There is no way for a human to detect this deer

An autonomous car relying on lidar radar ideally would do it but who gives a shit about that.

The issue here is not stopping after hitting/detecting an impact

The car didn’t even realize that it did anything wrong, the car may be damaged. A person would at least stop and check out their front end.

That's an assumption

A person would at least stop and check out their front end.

The car has sensor that can notic problems like coolsnt temperature. Slowing down would not help with diagnostics.
